    Default Pardah from servants

    Assalamualikum wr wb,

    I have two questions:

    1. Somebody narrated to me a hadith that Prophet(saw) once went to Hazrat Fatima(ra) and a ghulaam was with him. Her ppardah was not proper and she was concerned about it but Prophet relaxed her by saying that he is just a ghulaam. So my question is that is there no pardah from ghulaam?

    2. Isnt mehndi a cultural thing? and islam has no issues with cultural ritual, is that true?

It is SUNNAH to put mehndi on. Islam encourages it .

As for the gulam bit, well we have a house boy who comes and cleans the house and does our dishes. Personally, my mother and I observe absolute purdah when he's around.

And may allah's guidance be with us.

There will be a difference between a servant (Naukar) and a slave (Ghulaam). Scholars will shed light on this In-sha'Allah.
