the Colonialists and liberal secular rulers who robbed Muslims of the Sunnah and of Islamic Adab by a deliberate policy of de-Islamicization

through both 'carrot and stick'

But should we really be blaming these colonists when we have copies of the quran in our homes and we do not even open them to see what the message of Islam is?

the real answer for the ills these muslim communities is quite complex but lets start from the quality of the local imams, and this is linked to the separation of the education of these imams from the reality that the everyday muslim has to live.

very few imams have a different job/proffesion as a means of earning. Their main earning would then be say whatever comes their way through the masjid. Now the masjid gets it money from the DONATIONS/MEMBERSHIP FEES of the congregation.

So the imam would be really kicking his own livelihood if he criticizes any ill doing that is in the community, because these people may stop coming to the masjid and donating their money so the imam would lose out. The worst offenders in such communities are also more likely to be the trustees of the mosque, so why would anyone criticise their own boss.

Also why do these imams speak broken english? answer: The trustees want an imam who they can easily control, who's easier to control than a freshie, Visa seeking imam, who has nothing going for him except for the fact as a child he was sent to a madrasa that was akin to an orphanage.

yes that is true the colonialists did a wicked job in turning Muslims into nationalistic materialists

but it does not give individual modern Muslim men any excuse to deprive their families of their Islamic rights to good proper treatment

As always an outstanding contribution to a thread by brother Qibla, he's a very "special" member of this forum.

All problems in this world aren't related to "Colonists". Shifting the blame doesn't help us to address the problem.

What was the penetration of these colonists among normal everyday muslims in the lands they controled? Hardly any. If you weren't in one of the important cities/towns, you probably never ever saw a white face.

Using this as an excuse is like saying, before the colonists the people in these lands were perfect muslims, which is not true.
