Good History Books about Islam

Salaam which history books about Islam are really good and trustworhtly (not biased or anti islam etc), because i am looking for a good book about the history of Islam, which books do you recommend me?

I like info about everything of Islam history, like the jihad and crusades times, muslim spain, the art/science/medical influences of islam, political issues etc.

All these things about Islam i think are important to know, to understand the history of our fait,

which history book about Islam do you recommend?

i was thinking about 'the spreading of Islam' by T.W. Arnold ( a non-muslim)

many Islam sites talk good about this book, but i wonder which books there are more about Islam't history and which do you recommend?

My personal recommendation (other than ibn Khaldun's

,'Muqaddimah', which I feel is more concerned with the processes of history) would be Marshall Hodgson's, 'Venture of Islam' (in three vols.). A kind of in-depth overview of the history of Islam. Being from a non-Muslim its not really concerned about partisanship, but attempt to be 'objective'. It wont harm if you skip the chapter on The Prophet

. It was also tipped-up by Sidi Hamza Yusuf as being the best book on the history of Islam (at least in English).

If came by this book at islamicbookstore.com, i had doubts because maybe of the writer ( a non muslim) , but i'm now will consider it as an option, i've read indeed many positive reviews about it, so the book gives quite a correct history of Islam i hear

This is just history on the Khulafa ar-Rashidun with the exemption of Imam Hasan, but Imam Suyuti's History of the Khalifa's Who Took the Right Way (or something like that). It is only £5.00 (in the UK). Published by Ta Ha.

That book is really good even shaykh muhammad al-yaqoobi gave a lecture on that topic

Assalaamu Alaikum

A good Urdu collection would be "Tareekh Ibn Khuldun"

In English i have heard of very good series called "Saviors of the Islamic Spirit (i think) its actually a translation of a Urdu series but i dont know its name in Urdu...

Besides that Hayaatus Sahaabah is nice.

I have a book about Tipu Sultan (written by Hussain Ali Kirmani, translated by Col. W. Miles) and Ibn Batoota, Travels in Asia and Africa (an account of his travels, published in 1929 by Routledge and Kegan Paul...not sure who translated by)...Can anyone check if these are authentic? Jazaakallahu Khairan.
