Smile A place to study Islam

    As salam wa alaykum

May this reach you all in the best of health inshaAllah

A little background information on my current studies. I am finishing my studies in Information Technology. After I complete my degree later this year inshaAllah I am looking to work a little to pay back my student loans to be debt free. After that, I would like to go study Islam in a foreign country as the options here in the United States are not too good. The two places I can think of are extremely expensive and I don't want to take anymore loans out because of interest. My first choice would have been Syria, but this is not an option anymore (ya Allah swt have mercy on those who have passed and forgive them for their sins. ameen.). My second choice is Dar ul Mustafa, but I don't know classical Arabic so that puts me in a less-than-likely situation. Saudi is probably a no go as well because the University of Medina has an age limit of 25 and currently I am about to turn 27 inshaAllah. I have heard Malaysia has some good places that teach in English at the beginning, but I am not sure of those places. Also, I could probably teach English there to pay for my fees. I heard there was some places in Pakistan, but I am not sure how safe it is there. I am just looking to please Allah swt and truly dedicate myself for His swt cause. To learn more so I can do dawah, write, and teach the beauty and perfectness that is Islam. Any advice would help inshaAllah

And to give everyone some charity today here is a smile

May Allah swt guide us and protect us all ameen

Have you considered S. Africa or the UK.

the former is more exotic and might feel more "classical" i suppose.

Undoubtly South Africa is the best option for studying Islam for English speakers.

I know this may sound like an unlikely choice, but Turkey may not be a bad place.

Travelling overseas can end in a lot of wasted time and hassle.

Have you looked at some online options? Qibla.com is good. Better than you'd think.

The thing with online courses is that they cant really go over the steps on how to perform "wudhu" and "salat" though one can gain some book knowledge but for hands on knowledge would be better for a new muslim. Sometimes it can be inconvenient as well. Adab (manners) are learned and developed by example. I am not saying that online courses are bad but for a new muslim it isn't reccomended in my opinion unless one has already learned the basics such as performing salat, wudhu etc... Now if you are trying to learn arabic or gain more knowledge beyond basic sharia or to fine tune then that may be good. And Allah ta ala knows best! May Allah bless you all!

    wsalam,

You know they teach the maqasid and reliance of the traveller? These books go over wudhu, purification, prayer, hajj, fasting etc. And there is a webcam, so the teacher can show you how to do the action on it if required.

Personally I found sunnipath/qibla quite good for things like grammar, theology, logic, usool; where the focus of the course is a text.
