wow that's a solid speaker list...wish this was taking place closer to home.
It is probably a much nicer experience to listen to in person but I noticed it will be streamed live online so at least those of us who can't go still have a chance to listen.

No, but I will try to attend.

off topic: Brother hope1, I remember reading that you have some experience in reading islamic finance contracts.
Did you get a copy of Ijara Loan contract? What are your conclusions?
If you need a copy, I can provide one.

Assalamu alaikum,
I have Ijara Loans contract and I am not satisfied with it. IF it is ok it is so on the border that one will have to interpret it a lot and give a lot of leeways and exemptions to make it seem somewhat believably halaal.
As I mentioned many times before, Guidance, LaRiba and UM is more or less the same. I believe ISNA is the same as well but I do not have their contract to be 100% sure.
Devon bank in Chicago MAYBE ok based upon some partial contracts I have read but I am not 100%.
The only one I have some confidence with is Ansar Financial. They still have one fasid condition, but compared to the rest it is very very clean.
I have designed a contract as well along with my teacher. We are speaking with some more knowledgeable scholars to ensure it is perfectly ok. It solves/answers many of the answers that the other companies are trying to solve.
My opinions should not be considered to be the true Islamic position on any issue without verifying with scholars. Whoever follows my opinions should do so at their own risk as I am not a scholar. Also I ask to be forgiven if I offend anyone in my posts.

Assalamu aliakum brother,
This is what I understand and please correct me if I am wrong:
They make you sign two contracts. One is a loan contract with a credit union and one is an ijara contract with Ijara Loans. However when you sign the contract with the bank it is supposed to be on behalf of the "trust". So apparently you don't get sin because the trust is signing the contract - which I find hard to swallow. Then you have a ijara contract with the trust. Basically from what I understand the "trust" is used to funnel the interest. However you yourself sign on the behalf of the trust.
