PS .... Muslim should have respect in their eyes but keeping our gaze lower is impossible because when I have to talk to my girl co-workers during any science lab project , I can't 'keep my gaze lower' but I can have 'respect' and not 'pervertness' in my eyes.
If you look at the history of the Jews in Europe they faced a similar problem -

at one time they were all wearing beards and their women covered up, they prayed a lot and ordered their lives according to what they understood to be the Torah and according to the Talmud, but this seemed to make living with the European increasingly difficult as they became more 'modern'...

then a guy with views like your came along called Moses Mendelssohn, he was worried about the problems the Jews faced in Europe and his answer was that they should adopt Western ways and become like the Europeans in practically every way except having a vague 'wishy-washy' modernized 'Jewish' religion that fitted in more easily with 'modern' European life...

he founded a 'reform temple' and from this root various sects of Jews emerged who nearly totally abandoned what they had previously believed to have been the correct Divine Laws (Shariah) for them to live by - to the extent that most of the Jews alive today have abandoned the vast majority of rules of their religion and have just become like the non-Jews in nearly every respect...

did he save the Jews or simply remove most of them from what is actually Judaism?

he made it easier for them to live in the West, but only at the cost of them loosing their religion...

now with the Jews it did not matter so much because by rejecting the last two Prophets of Allah they had already become misguided...

but Islam is the fully correct way that Allah has ordained for human beings until the day of judgement

    - if what happened to the bulk of the Jews happens to the bulk of the Muslims it will be a sad day indeed.

Your rigid approach is the evidence of impracticality in Muslim thought today. Try dissecting a leech with any science student (girl) ...and then tell me if you were successful in "keeping your gaze lower" while performing the dissection and discussing your lab tasks with your partner..What about comparing the results and analyzing the results?...This is the simplest of examples I'm giving you....Don't even think of dissecting pig , frog etc (Forget about operating on human body...) ...

Now please , keep it real and practical.....bye
you know Auzer a couple of thousand years ago,

not long after Prophet Eesa (as) had ascended to Heaven,

the followers of Eesa (as) were united in following the Shariah (Divine Laws) and the Sunnah that was taught to them by him (as),

things were good amongst them and they were lead by figures such as James the Just (raa) according to the Laws of the true Gospels and the true Torah.

they were spreading out into many lands amongst the Jews and the non-Jews,

and when non-Jews accepted the teachings of Jesus they also accepted the laws of Prophet Moses along with the Gospels, as they were still largely not abrogated then...

then along came a guy called Saul of Tarsus who had some similar ideas to you -

during the life of Prophet Eesa, Saul of Tarsus had always opposed him and cruelly persecuted the believers in his job as a tax collector for the Roman kuffar occupiers of Palestine...

but now Eesa (as) was dead Saul of Tarsus started to claim that he had a special knowledge of him (as)

contrary to the teachings of Eesa (as), Saul of Tarsus started to tell the people that it was not necessary to follow the laws of Moses as well as the teachings of the Gospels...

and he made his own wrong interpretation of what the Gospels meant...

he said it was not practical to expect the Greeks and Romans or the modern Jews who spoke Greek to follow the Shariah as taught by Jesus (as) - which consisted of the Gospels + the laws of Moses -

he implied that the modern people are following the Greek and Roman traditions - circumcision and all these rules are too hard for them...they need an easy version of Christianity without all these rules

    - and from this misguided man grew a false version of the religion of Jesus...

that became more and more misguided over the years -

it would indeed become powerful through the half pagan Christian Church in Rome

but only by becoming a misguided sect - it was no longer a version of Islam

and eventually the followers of Saul of Tarsus of the Roman and Greek Churches would persecute the real Islamic Christians (the surviving branches of the Nazarenes) and persecute any who insisted that Allah was a unity (such as the Arians) with horrific vigour wherever they had power over them -

    - and all who failed to adopt their false creeds would be persecute by them them wherever they found them.

    - and when Prophet Muhammad (saws) revelations came these followers of Saul of Tarsus would launch dozens of Crusades against the followers of the Last Revelation - that would continue over the centuries

    - and when a follower of Saul of Tarsus called General Allenby of the British Army defeated the Turks in Palestine during the last century he declared;

Only now the Crusades have ended!

so personally if you come to me and say abandon elements of Islam to fit in with 'modern' society,

which is only what Saul of Tarsus taught...

but by which you mean we should distort our view of Islam to fit in with the kuffar

    then I say to you

(with all the best wishes for your increasing in spiritual understanding)

    'no thanks' .

(PS. are you really named after the disbelieving father of Prophet Abraham (as)?)

I actually have spent time in a science lab I live in the UK and have done so pretty much all my life. Please tell me how comparing results would require me to look at my lab partner? Or any of the other things you mentioned? I didn't know I had to look at my lab partner when dissecting a leech... I thought I just had to look at what I was doing i.e. the leech. Maybe if I spent my time staring at my lab partner rather than looking at the leech, I would have got better marks

Shaytan is a master at ensnaring you without you being aware.

"The servant who is unaware of his contemptibility and regards himself as honourable, is truly contemptible"
(Ikmalush Shiyam - commentary of the Hikam of Ibn Ata'illah al-Iskandari)

If Allah had not concealed my faults, and my true self was displayed, people would not even spit on me.
