Shyakh Ismail Wadi reciting a third of the quran in salah

Today, shaykh Hasan abu Nar, a very well-known Palestinian scholar and qari, visited my masjid. He was giving a short talk after fajr about the quran. He mentioned having once visited a certain shaykh Ismail Wadi (originally from Pakistan) in the UK. Shaykh Hasan said that upon arriving, he found the shaykh raising his hands for takbir and starting a nafl prayer. So he started waiting for the shaykh, and after some time, another man came and asked him what he was waiting for. When shaykh Hasan told him that he was waiting to meet shaykh Ismail, the man replied that he had better go and finish all his other business before returning to meet the shaykh because the two rakahs he had just begun praying were those in which he recited a third of the quran every day!

Does anybody know this shaykh? Would love to learn more about him. I did a google search that turned up a list of khulafah of Pir Ghulam Habib Naqshbandi, and the name Ismail Ahmad Wadi appeared on the list. Is that the same person?

it could be the same shaykh. He is probably the most senior shaykh of the UK and he is from india originally not pakistan. He then moved to Africa if I'm not mistaken Madagascar and finally to the UK. I am not aware of him reading long rakahs of salah but it is very possible. He has come to my house on a few occasions with one of his sons being close friends of my father. The thing I remember about him is this....he came into the house he shook everybody's hand with a huge wide smile. I mean a very visible smile. Then I think there was food and then the respected shaykh db was engaged in muraqabah whilst everybody else was talking....after a long time he gets up and says is it salah time or something to this effect and then we left for salah. Very noorani person with clear visible noor on his face. He has very pious sons who are engaged in the work of deen. His sons were pursuing worldly education and then pir ghulam habib rh told hazrat ismail wadee to make them ulema,. huffaz, etc. All his sons are hafiz of the quraan and many of them are big shaykhs of hadeeth etc. They are all Mashallah doing khidmat of deen. Hazrat Ismail Wadee db studied at Dahbhel if I'm not mistaken and also went to hazrat ahmed ali lahori rh to study tafsir. A very great person Mashallah.

was very very lucky to meet Hazrat twice before once in December 2011 and once in April 2010. Both were very quick salam and leave and he is extremely old, thin and frail but they are truly memorable becuase Hazrat has an incredible spiritual presence !!

It'll be very good if those who know more about Hazrat can write about it here. I heard his eldest son is also a Khalifah of Pir Ghulam Habib (ra) and lives in Reunion Island and that one of his sons, Sufi Tahir Sahib (Mufti) is a teacher at DU Bury.

Some people might have heard of Mufti Sajjad (from Birmingham and also an author of some books) - he did his iftaa in Blackburn and he told us once that in his student days, he never realised the importance of Bay'ah and thought it was a distraction from studies. Then during iftaa, he felt the need to find a Shaykh and he went to meet Hazrat Ismail (db) and asked him for bay'ah. Hazrat told him to make istikharah, and he will do the same, and to come back in a week. So he did, and he has also been given khilafah.

if anyone wants to meet hazrat saab then come and pray jumma at masjid e noorul islam,audley range (1.30pm) then after the remaining salah be seated and wait till hazrat finishes his salah...hazrat sits for about 30-45 minutes..mashallah was an amazing person he is...may Allah SWT grant him a long healthy life ameen..also come and meet his son in law hazrat Mufti Saleh DB..also a special person....duas and salams

I just want to confirm what brother London786 and Rahmaniyyah told about the Shaykh, he went to Madagascar first and then England, and also that his first son lived in Reunion Island.

About making long naafl salaat, I remember that my father -who has made bay'ah with him and went to England to visit him from time to time- told me the same.
And the Qâri with whom I've started my hifz told us the same thing in class when the Shaykh came to Reunion years ago.
