With regards to maulana karamat ali being a shia then what can I say? The silsila of maulana karamat ali is from syed ahmed shaheed and he was sent by syed ahmed shaheed to preach in Bengalg. I do not have a lot of information on this maybe bro maripat can do a bit of digging inshallah.

I have just asked around and found the answer from a trustworthy scholar Sidi.
The Maulwi who is clearly mentioned as a Shi'i in the book is not the Mawlana Karamat 'Ali Jaunpuri al Hanafi who was a Khalifa of the Sayyid. He is Mawlana Sayyid Karamat 'Ali Khajgavi Jaunpuri as rightly mentioned in the book and he was a Rafidi. He was the Ustad of the writer Amir 'Ali who is famous for his book, "Spirit of Islam."

Thanks for the reminder, brother. Really needed that.

According to maulana Syed Sulaiman Nadwi, "No one did so much for Muslims of Bangal as was done by Maulana Karamat Ali". Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi also appreciated his missionary activities.

Hazrat Shaikh Maulana Zakariya had talked about him. About three hundred thousand people entered Islam at his hands.

He is mentioned in the book Ulama-e-Hind Ka Shaandar Mazi that is available on net.

Ha. I was thinking that some one will do the hard work of finding that.
I have a very vague feeling that these (I think five volumes) are there in that scribd link that was posted in one of the books threads. Any way Na'aeemiya Book Depot of Deoband will send you the hard copies by book post if you contact them. In the meanwhile I shall try to find the scribd copies. I'll get the Na'aeemiya contact from their books, IA.

PS: Here for the time being.

I hope this clears a lot of doubt.

It is true that he came from Sayyid Ahmed (rah) Barelwi's line. His father Sayyid 'Abd al Hayy Lucknowi(rah) is famous for his Nuzhat al-Khawaatir. Just to add, he studied Tafsir under Mawlvi Ahmad 'Ali and he went to Deoband to study hadith under Shaykh al Islam Sayyid Husayn Ahmad Madani (rah) and Shaykh Husayn Ahmed was linked to the tariqa of Syed Ahmed Shahid through one of his ancestors.
