My sister, how about you do this: name the specific exercise AND/OR type it out here. I personally have a copy of all three volumes of Lisan ul Quran and would be more than willing to look at the exercise and then assist you in any way I can. As for those who do not have a copy of the series, if you typed out the exercise here as well, it would be easier for them to assist you.

Once doing either or, preferably, both of the above, I and others will be able to assist you insha'allah.

I thought there were only 2 volumes. Is there an online bookstore where the 3rd can be purchased?

chapter 10 Adjective phrase exercise 4 (in Reading).. I have upload the exercises..
So how do i approach these exercises..ive neva done unvollewed readin before..so am kind stuck....

What i would av done is probably identify the adjective phrase and go looking through the vocabulary list and try to put vowels on the letters...and the last letters of the two words would be the same vollew cos they av to b grammatically same...

so if there was an 'al' attached to the word dan one fatha, kasrah, dammah if there was no 'al' than tanween fatha, kasrah or damamh...if there was a preposition in front of the prhase then the last letter would av kasrah..that much i understood but wat abt the rest out the letters...and isnt going through the vocabulary time consuming..is there another way or is this way better....

what about when the sentence becomes longer....

My sister, voweling is of two kinds:

    1) The vowel(s) on the last letter of a word.

    2) The vowels on all the other letters.

With the exception of many words that are considered to be "harfs" or are otherwise "irregular" in the sense that the rules of declension do not apply to them, it is only the voweling on the last letter that can be determined (in an unvoweled text) on the basis of rules, like the one you cited above where you said that you know that if a "harf Jarr" (i.e. "preposition") precedes an "Ism" (or "noun"), that it will bear a Kasra (to show that it is "majroor" or in a state of "jarr"). As for the second kind of voweling, i.e. the vowels on all the letters EXCEPT the last, that is something that needs to be memorized; excepting certain forms of verbs, there is no rule.

As such, yes, what you have suggested to do is the way of doing it, i.e. seeing whether two words share having an "AL" or not and going through the vocab lists to get the voweling on the letters right . Yes, it is very time-consuming at first but not once you memorize vocabulary.

I would suggest though that you first do Madinah Book 1 with the aid of the videos here: http://www.lqtoronto.com/videos.html (the book itself can be downloaded from the same website as well). Madinah Book 1 is covered in 18 lessons so if you do it 4 days a week you'll EASILY cover the first book in 4-5 weeks. Book 1 will definitely give you a jump start in reading unvoweled texts. You start reading without vowels very quickly and certain key vocab such as the word "when" (which appears in your very first exercise) is something the voweling of which you will memorize very quickly because of how certain key vocab is recycled in the book. As for how else it makes reading unvoweled texts easier, I'm not sure how to explain it but it does.

I would implore you to do Book 1 of the Madinah series with the aid of the videos on the website that I gave you and then come back to Lisanul Quran or Arbi Ka Muallim and things will make much more sense.

However, in the interim, how about you do the exercises by TYPING them (you can make it so that Microsoft Word lets you type in Arabic or use this website http://www.arabic-keyboard.org/ ) and posting them here for correction.

If anything that I have said is unclear, please let me know insha'allah and I'll try to clarify further.

    wa'salaam.
