brother for the ruling.
I would like to clarify that this does not apply to reverts. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

jazak allah for the ruling... but making prayers up for 20 years can be daunting.. Sheikh Al Munajjid is the favour of the ruling that if you miss the prayer delibrately then you cant make it up... making up prayers is only allowed if one is asleep or forgets... your thought on this

Quite a while ago, a brother phoned into a live show to talk the shaykh. He said he was in his last year of 17 years of qadhaa! As far as I cam remember.
One opinion amongst the majority is like a thorn within a flower garden. We should not follow scholars based on our personal desires, if the majority of ulema are of the opinion that qadhaa is waajib then there should be no hesitation in abiding that opinion.
One should consider their qadhaa salah as true ibadah and true tawbah, extra time to connect to Allah. If a person has missed 20 years of salah, subhanAllah then there should definitely be zeal to pay off this great debt to Allah. Again, the qadhaa prayer has to be prayed in a way that Allah would accept it. One should make this their occupation and leisure time if necessary, if you die in the process, inshaa Allah Allah will forgive the rest.
A very simple method is to do one whole set every day, 2 Fajr after or before Fajr, 4 dhuhr after dhuhr, 4 asr before or after asr, 3 Maghrib after Maghrib, 4 ishaa and 3 witr after Ishaa and witr.
Or if that seems hard then take 30 mins of the day and totally dedicate them to praying the 6 qadhaa prayers. I am sure we all have a spare half an hour somewhere.
Do this until you complete 20 years, or until you die...
Inshaa Allah after a few months you will get used to it.

Brother, I have a large number of years to make up for too. I made the mistake of jumping into it and trying to tackle 3 days worth of qadha at once (in hopes that I could get it done in 1/3 of the time). That did not work for me. Now I'm trying to get the daily prayers done properly first and then insha'Allah I will resume the qadha by adding 1 days worth of qadha and when I'm comfortable, increase it to 2 etc. etc.
It is probably best not to focus on the total number too often but rather, focus on a daily amount that works for you and focus on the intention. Insha'Allah, over time it will become easier for us all to make up any missed prayers we have.
May Allah (SWT) make it easy for you. Ameen.

May Allah (SWT) reward all those who replied under this thread and the other - and in general all the Muslim brothers and sisters on SF - greatly for all the wonderful effort each puts into helping others. Ameen.

What about performing great nawafils like ishraq, duha, awaabin and tahajjud instead of qada. Like the way sheikh al-munajjid says...

as said above the missed prayers are a debt you owe to Allah, you cannot repay your debt except by making them up. Performing nawafil is like giving charity when you have to repay your debt.
Shaykh Munajjid (hafidhahullah)'s view is a very isolated one, in fact they say you were a disbeliever because of what you deliberately missed of prayers that's why according to them you don't have to perform them again.
On the other hand Imam Nawawi () reports a consensus on making up missed prayers.
