The Grand Imam of Ka'aba, Sheikh Khalid Bin Ali al Ghamdi, known as “Imam-e-Haram”, arrived on a seven-day visit here on Tuesday. Dr. al Ghamdi was received at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport here by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ahmed Hasan, Labour Minister Waqar Ahmed Shah and prominent clerics including the Imam of Aishbagh Idgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, Maulana Salman Nadwi and Maulana Saeedur Rahman Nadwi were present to receive the “Imam-e- Haram”. Heads of Muslim religious organisations were also present.
Dr. al Ghamdi has come to Lucknow at the personal invitation of Maulana Salman Nadwi, an Islamic scholar at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama here. Elaborate arrangements have been made by the district administration for his stay in Lucknow.
On Wednesday, the “Imam-e-Haram” will address a congregation at the Nadwatul Ulama after leading the maghrib (dusk) prayers. The next day, he will inaugurate the F.I. Maulana Ali Mian Institute of Medical Sciences at Bani on Lucknow-Kanpur road and address a conference on global peace. The conference will be attended by Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. Dr. al Ghamdi will lead the Juma (Friday) prayers at Nadwatul Ulama on Friday and the maghrib and isha ( night ) prayers at Aishbagh Idgah.
Thereafter, he will participate in a conference organised by the Islamic Centre of India. The conference will be presided over by All-India Muslim Personal Law Board president Hazrat Maulana Syed Mohammad Rabe Hasani.
On Saturday, Dr. al Ghamdi will visit Integral University for an interaction with the students and faculty members. The “Imam-e-Haram” is scheduled to meet Mr. Akhilesh Yadav at the Chief Minister's official residence on Sunday evening before returning on Monday.
