Yes, Imaam Maalik was the Leader of the Athari school. Waki ibnul-Jaraah was the leading Athari prior.
What is more interesting is that there is no alternative to Ahlu-Sunnah in this time. During this time, there was only Ahlu-Sunnah i.e. Atharism, or kalaam. What is further interesting is the medieval idea that kalaam schools were introduced to ahlus-sunnah.
