Default Tabligh and arrogance do not go together!

The basic principle of the work of Tabligh is to correct ourself first, our own islah which is what gave it the success that we see today. I have seen amazing results. I hold the work of tabligh in very high regards because it is through the efforts of one tablighi brother that my entire family and extended family gave up ismailism and embraced islam Alhamdulillah. Every single member of my family is now actively involved in this work and I have seen amazing changes in people. Having experienced the transformation myself and closely seeing it in so many of my family members I was completely mesmerized with this effort.

However, these days I am seeing more and more people who are actively involved in tabligh and sadly they are some of the most arrogant people I have met among muslims. This is not a generalization and one should not judge the whole community based on these few. But the problem is I have come across many such people and also heard from other people who have experienced the same problem. The work that is supposed to make one humble is actually doing the opposite in some people.

Since I have seen the potential and efforts of the work of tabligh and how it has changed the lives so many including myself, such attitude is very upsetting and discouraging.

I request all the active Jamat workers to address this issue. It is humility that gave tabligh the success and if we turn to arrogance it will crumble it. Shaitan has seen how people are changing themselves through dawah work and there is nothing he can do about it, so he is using Takabbur as a weapon to try and weaken the efforts.

Takabbur in jamat work is a real problem and needs real solutions.

The work that is supposed to make one humble is actually doing the opposite in some people. I met a family that has been involved in the work of tabligh for three generations now, the gradfather was one of the first who started the work in their community. The problem is they have so much takabbur that it is actually putting people off of tabligh work. They call themselves 'born tablighs', as if it's a separate sect and look down upon those who are new to the work. I have also met some who lie and use filty language but when you confront them they will plainly tell you I am a 'Jamati', as if that's a badge of immunity.

Our grandfathers back in the day along with pioneer elders of the work saw the haqeeqat of the work , in a tough environment, we merely adopted the aadat, hence we dont understand the Mehnat and hard work behind it, and feel comfortable as if we are same as them, and that is the reason for the takabbur, May Allah rectify us, humble us and show us the haqeeqat.

Without telling anyone and keeping them to yourself -do not reveal the mistakes of old workers. That is the secret - to be stronger than the old workers by not doing what the old workers are making mistakes and Allah will propel you to such heights as incredible. You are not the only one who is experiencing this phenomenon. It is all over everywhere. You have to penetrate the ranks secretly and silently and by the help of Allah.
After all, our Prophet SAW did admonish some "new" sahaba about talking "bad" about the old badri sahaba.
I am so happy for you and your family. May Allah jj give you the best in both the worlds and give you and your family the highest ranks in Jannah-Aameen.
In the rouse of the new awakening and global "Islam-asization" will the world be more chaotic or will there more love and tolerance?

I heard in a speech of one of the old brothers that it was from Maulana Eliyas (RAH) Malfuzaat, that Maulana has said that the danger for this work is not from any outsider but from its own workers. People will do this work but without qualities (6-sifaats) which will really hurt this work.

Besides this, i was discussing this same topic with one of our elder & he replied saying that this is a trial for people like us, our patience is tested, our love for the other brother is tested, we have been accusing our brothers about their characters but how many times have we prayed to Allah for him (his weakness).

Really the 6 qualities as thought in jamaat has to be in every one's life, so as to be Dai s like Sahaba (R)

    Wasalam

Arrogance is a problem that most people who start to become religious become engulfed in. It is not isolated to Tabligh. People need to be informed that arrogance is a sin in Islam.

In any large body of people, one is bound to find some that do not fit the mold. We're all made different.
    Very sorry for your experience.
Remember, they are volunteers in the path of Allah looking for themselves first and others as a coincidencal output.

Alhamdulillah, I have not encountered any rude tablighis, but that could change. I am hoping not.

I see what you all are saying and it makes sense. We are all here to better ourselves, elders as well as newcomers. Everybody needs islah.

Arrogance is a hurtful thing and like brother ahmed said..if it hurts you, you will stay away from it so that you don't hurt others the same away.

may Allah swt protect us all and help us be strong and united in this amazing effort of deen, ameen.

    Jazaakumullaahu khoyron for this reminder.
I am guilty of this sin. May ALLAH cleanse my heart of this grievous sin. Please make du'a for me...

I remember once in my khuruj with an arab jamaat...
During the halaqah of ta'leem, we started with majlis with halaqah of qur'an (it used to be called halaqah alQur'an before the elders changed and call it halaqah tajwid). When I recited the Qur'an, one arab brother corrected my pronounciation. However, I could not seem to accept this and although I didnot said it aloud, but my heart keep saying that "this person who even the basic of tajwid is not correct, in what capacity has he to correct me who has learned tajwid before"... (May ALLAH forgive me)

After finishing the halaqah alQur'an, we continued with reading the kitab Riadhus Soliheen. The masul of ta'leem opened the Riadhus Soliheen and the page that was opened was Bab Kibr.

The next day ta'leem, the same thing happened, ie when the Riadhus Soliheen was opened, the page was about Kibr. Due to that incident, until now I still remember the ayat of alQur'an and the hadith...

    ie وَلَا تَمۡشِ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَرَحًا*ۖ
And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance.
    al-Isra':37

    and the hadith...
لا يدخل الجنة من كان في قلبه مثقال ذرة من كبر‏
will not enter the Jannat, whoever has in his heart a "zarrah" (atom's weight) of Kibr

Hence, it occured to me (ie it hit me in the head) that ALLAH the Merciful is admonishing me and that I have to make effort to cleanse and protect my heart against this ...

May ALLAH swt protect us all of this disease.

Verily for every disease there is a cure
When the treatment is suitable, the disease will be cured by the permission of ALLAH 'Azza wa Jalla.
