Default I am working on learning the words of prayer, should I still do the movements?

I am working on learning the words of the prayer, but should I still perform the movements of salah even if I do not know all the words yet? I am eager to learn to do salat correctly, but am having some trouble with memorizing the words said during the prayer. Is it ok to do the prayer even if my memorization is still far from being complete? Thanks and walaikum salam!

    Assalamu alaikum bro.

Start practicing the Actions of Salah. As for the Salah to be valid, you will have to atleast learn Suratul Fatiha and the Tashhud, as they are the 'integrals' of the Salah. To make things easier here is a video of how to perform Salah.

When I first started praying, I was told to replace the words I did not know by saying "Allahu akbar, subhanu Allah" and keep praying regularly even before I learn all the correct words. Soera Fatiha is the most important for prayers and if you make the time for it, in a few hours you should be able to memorize it.

Do the movements of Salah as they are an integral part of the salah as is the recitation of the verses. If you can join a congregation or have someone lead the prayers, in that case you wont have to recite any surah.

    Assalamu alaikum,

Cute cat in your avatar, but just FYI, they do not allow images of people or animals, so you will have to change it. Being a crazy cat lady myself, I do appreciate it though.

When I was learning to pray, a sister sent me little cards to read from. I've put them up online, so iA you could print them out and read from them - https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0A...c1&hl=en&pli=1

I was told it was permissible to have a piece of paper with the Arabic words laid out on your prayer mat in front of you. This is what I did while I was learning, it was very helpful. I tried to do it from memory, but if I got stuck, I would glance at the sheet to jog my memory, then continue.

Edit:: Just make sure you are learning the translation of the words as well, it is important to know what you are saying
