Default Trimming hair below lower lip?

Im planning on growing a beard (not there yet, but getting closer everyday) so I've refrained from trimming any hair on my face except the moustache of course, which is a sunnah to trim. But I've also been trimming that little tuft of hair the grows under your lower lip. I never thought anything of it, until tonight when it came into my mind that this may be considered part of the beard, and I might be sinning by trimming these hairs.
So I did a bit of research and it seems I was right, its apparently part of the beard.

I understand that its very bad to trim the beard less than fist length.
The one who trims/shaves his beard is considered a faasiq

Im feeling very at unrest right now. Have I committed a major sin by trimming those hairs, even if I did not know the ruling on them?

    Beard Mubarak!

Don't worry, man. Allaah knows very well that you've done it due to lack of knowledge. In fact Allaah is very happy because you are imitating His most beloved messenger .

anfaqah (soul patch / baby beard / mouche) is part of the beard. Make taubah for whats past and renew your intention. May Allah help you fulfil the extremely precious sunnah of Rasulullah .

Jazakallah. Yes, I have repented, and will continue to do so.
    Thank you.
