What's in Mukhtaraat of Nadwi?

as salaam alaikum everybody.

Can someone tell me what kind of works are in Hadhrat Nadwi's "Mukhtarat min Adabil Arab"? How much of it is prose and roughly how much of it is poetry?

Also, are there any texts that are more difficult to do than things like the Qasas books and al Qirat ur Rashidah but a bit less difficult than Mukhtarat to kind of make it so that there isn't as much as a jump between these books as most people say there is?

Shaykh Abul Hasan al-Nadwi's Mukhtarat only covers prose. It is in two volumes.

There are about 33 selections in volume 1 and 38 in volume 2.

The selections are from the Qur'an and Hadith, Sirah of Ibn Hisham, Kalilah and Dimnah of Ibn al-Muqaffa', 2 selections from the writings of al-Jahiz, al-Iqd al-Farid of Ibn Abd Rabbih, Muruj al-Dhahab of al-Mas'udi, 2 selections from the writings of abul Faraj al-Asfahani, al-Munqidh min al-Dhalal by Imam al-Ghazali, the Muqaddimah of Ibn Khaldun.

Also writings from Ahmad Amin, Taha Husayn, Mustafa Lutfi al-Manfaluti, Shaykh Muhammad Abduh, Imam Shah Waliyyullah al-Dihlawi, Ali al-Tantawi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Khallikan, Abu Hayyan al-Tawhidi, letters/sermons of the companions Abu Bakr, Umar and Ali (May Allah be pleased with them), a sermon by each of Ziyad Ibn Abih and Tariq Ibn Ziyad, Abd al-Hamid al-Katib, Ibn al-Amid, Abd al-Qahir al-Jurjani, a Maqamah by each of Badi' al-Zaman al-Hamadhani and al-Hariri, Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Jubayr al-Andalusi, Mustafa Sadiq al-Rafi'i. Muhammad Kurd Ali, Abbas Mahmud al-Aqqad, Ahmad Hasan al-Zayyat, Sayyid Qutb and some others.


The book, Manthurat min Adab al-Arab by Shaykh Muhammad Rabi' Hasani al-Nadwi, has selections from prose and also poetry (mainly from the Hamasah). This work is supposed to be a bridge between the Qisasun Nabiyyin and al-Qira'ah al-Rashidah books.

I have the Manthurat book. When I have time, I'll try to scan the contents pages.

The Mukhtarat link posted earlier is the first edition of the book and doesn't contain the new texts in the second edition.
