You are probably right...i do think that they probably still lack any sort of proper madrassahs producing aalims in the punjab though (not 100% sure but i dont think i have heard of any)

Maulana Rafiq Jami has some pretty good punjabi bayans but probably not suitable for dawah purposes..wallahu alam

Why don't singers realize that they songs sound much better without all the humming and dadadada-ing?

His Target community are not the people who're already religious , rather he wanted to bring an alternative to the "music listening" community. That's why at times he says that the state of the Ummah is not such that they're ready to accept whether Music is Halal or Haraam, the best I can do is present myself.

Personally, I'd rather listen to Junaid bhai or Ahmed Bukhatir than listen to Music, as their stuff closely touches the boundaries, but still better than Zain Bhikha's "Duffs" and "Beatboxing". ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dqAZqG3kXg )

something about the hamd/naat I posted: In rural areas of the Punjab, a longer and edited version of this is recited by a large group in funeral processions. This is of course not from the sunnah ( friend of mine got beaten up by his uncles in his own mother's funeral because he told them to stop reciting this as his mother wanted no bidah in her funeral)..however I admit that it does have a moving effect if you listen to it at a funeral, I remember the funeral of my servant's aunt in our village, I had never met her, never heard of her prior to her death, but this really moved me at that time..ajeeb

Yeah but Dawud Wharnsby doesn't care about Halal or Haraam, he plays guitar and even has uncovered women in his videos, sadly enough , this same virus has penetrated into Zain Bhikha and now I can't watch his videos even. Abu Ali , yeah he's really great too, but his ways are a bit difficult to follow by individuals, usually he's backed by Abu Muhsin and Abu Abdul Malik.

Classic. I grew up listening to Qari Waheed saheb. Back then the naat khwaan had lots of adab and respect for the kalaam they were reading.

Did Qari Waheed recite Nabi-e-Akram as well?

But it kinda gives the song a musical feel sometimes.

I have never come across anyone better than Qari Waheed Zafar saab, Zahe Muqaddar, Faslon ko takkalluf, Allahu Allah, Azal kee Khushboo are some of the all time great naats...

Anyways, there is a kid by the name of Afzaal siddiqui, he was offered 400000 Rs per month by Geo tv to recite naats on their show, His father declined saying that the naat of Huzoor is not for sale...He recited a naat "Salaam uss par" at our masjid a couple of weeks ago, and the majority of the congregation was crying by the end of it...I cant find him on youtube right now, i'll post his naat later ..
