    Br Hafiz Gee,

I found out that Mufti Aasim Rashid from Surrey has some students and has started a small darul uloom in that area.

not sure if that is an option, but sure is close to Calgary, and likely small classes sizes etc.

He is also teaching and managing his dārul ʿulūm in Surrey, B.C. from which the first batch of qualified scholars will shortly be graduating inshallah

i have sat in some of his biyans when he was in Montreal. I don't know more than what's on that site, although you can contact him through his site just to find out what the status is:

    Assalamu 'alaykum,

Hafiz Gee, if you want more information regarding Mufti 'Aasim's Dar al-'Ulum, I can message you on FB.

PS - If you cannot go to a Madrassah, some websites offer the 'aalim curriculum online as well but obviously some are mere advanced talib al-'ilm ones [such as a 3 year course].

I particularly like the idea of having Hanafis and malikis studying under the same roof, so that Hanafi students can also study maliki subjects that interest them.
I've gone to this institute only once. I don't know much about it. Moulana Amin sahab is a good scholar, my shaikh often invites him to give talks at programs at the idara. Just last Friday was the Ruyat e Hilal program and Shaikh Amin sahab gave a phenomenol talk in English. He is a good scholar. And Mufti Husain sahab also teaches there and we all know what he is like masha'Allah. Darul Qasim is holding it down.

I think they have a tasawwuf silsilah there in Qadriyyah lineage. I think he teaches books of Shaikh al Akbar (ra), I think his silsilah is called "Akbari Silsilah" but I think he keeps tasawwuf within his close students I think wallahu alam.

Most generous of mankind, I have no one to take refuge in,
Except you at the occurrence of widespread calamity.

    al-salam 'alaykum,

Although both had other Shaykhs previously, Shaykh Amin and Dr. Umar are khalifahs of al-Sharif Muhammad Haydara, who is a great Shaykh, a Qadiri both in his spiritual and ancestral lineage. He is seated on the right of Dr. Umar in the following videos:
    - "Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani's Love of the Poor and Needy" (Dr. Umar Abd-Allah): http://youtu.be/Hzpynh6Ax6Q
    - "Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani and Loving the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace)" (Shaykh Amin Kholwadia): http://youtu.be/Hzpynh6Ax6Q

A bit more information about their path is on the website: http://www.qadriyya.org/.

Also, in Darul Qasim, you would graduate having gone through serious books like Hidayah, Mishkat, Nur al-Anwar, Sharh al-`Aqa'id etc. rather than coming out as a humanities major who happens to have studied a few Arabic books. That being said, although Darul Qasim has been running for several years now, this formal degree program is new, and as you know new programs always have to go through a process of trial-and-error and have to make some adjustments here and there.

BTW I am not an employee or spokesperson for Darul Qasim. It would be wise to double-check anything I said with the official website.
Shaykh Amin is a rare gem. Do you happen to have his biography by any chance ? Are there any scholars at MSI - Chicago ?
