I got an old Punjabi Pakistani aunty who has found out that I’m going on umrah.
She wants me to take some clothes she has and distribute them to poor people over there.
Now I’m not really keen on this as I don’t know where the tradition comes from. But more importantly, I don’t really want to do something that I wouldn’t do myself. I’d rather just give cash sadaqah to poor people there.
Does anyone know where this clothes distribution ritual comes from?
And how do you do it? Who do you give the clothes to????
