lol i liked rqsnnt...lone voice of ghair muqallids on this forum...he didn't have many friends here.
i disagree with every thing he says though : p
and on a serious note, the fitnah of GM is very very real. i plan to do a dr. ati one day and write the calamity of salafies. in sha Allah
p.s i agree with the ban on revert. i would have done the same if i was a mod. i hope he was cautioned beforehand. that shldnt be left out.
and the mods are very balanced. i for one have never been banned despite abusing ulema a lot. but there has to be a line drawn where arguments and debates are etting prolonged for no reason.

Brother,
He is a fine example of what happens when you label people, target them and then they just fight back.
I have a relative in Pakistan who is Ghair-Muqallid and his entire family is hardcore Deobandees, he told me that he went to Umrah at a very young age came back to Pakistan and started doing Rafa Yadain (as a child) simply because he liked it and people starting labelling him as “Ahl-e-Hadeeth” and he had no idea what it even was! As he grew up he started to disliked being called that (still didn’t know what it was) and then at university he met Ahl-e-Hadeeth and became one (for the heck of it and still has). I categorically told me “Bhai! I have nothing against Hanafees and Deobandees my father and bothers are that but I have been targeted for no reason so I don’t really care now...”
Rqsnnt was an innocent guy who did small things when he was new and then he started to defend himself and then got bigger and bigger and bigger. People have a way of labelling people and then they become it, many other examples on this forum of other people who have gone this way or that.
Its astonishing how people label people simply because they decide to recite Fatihah behind the Imam, do Rafay Yadain or place hands above belly button or combine Salah and they are thrown OFF the Deobandi/Hanafi Manhaj, there is another group which does exactly this i.e. throws people off Manhaj.
There are obviously other factors in their lives as well but labelling sure sticks!

Hmmm... I was just thinking of this yesterday: labeling. Especially in relation to people who are 'big' in the media - have lots of coverage, people get to know them through photos and their writing etc. It seems the more they speak or write, the wider the schism between them and some Muslims becomes and this must make it sooooo hard for them to see anything more than their own position after a while simply from going on the defensive every time. And even if they can break free from that shortsightedness, the legacy likely continues to haunt them for a very long time and may never break free from it... They will always have their name associated with a thought stuck in pages of books, internet sites, etc.
... sister Aliyaa... I think this would qualify as one evil of mass media.
[EDIT: I should clarify that my post is not in relation to any member's posts; only general thoughts on labeling - nothing specific.]

aoa,
what exactly was the label?what i did not like about his way of communicating i told him first hand. you can read it if you wish. i will not repeat it here. the thread was starting to become a waste of time and it was not because people did not have ideas or werent discussing.
there were other things which justify the ban. when bro revert comes back i shall tell it to his face, in a nice way. but now now.
p.s i like how you underline stuff.
killer.
