I suppose you shall face problems mainly in China. Your problems in US should be like any other Muslim there.
Make an intention to mold your life completely on Islam. Then take some small steps in that direction. Then make an intention to continue the process through out your life. That is about all that you need. Having done that you can get busy with your routine life.
