Anybody? Even if you say that this is very poor Arabic/calligraphy ... would tell me that a lot. Thanks in advance!

Okay, thanks so much for trying & the link. Often the pottery artist was not too skilled at languages/calligraphy ..... leaving lots of possible outcomes & room for error.

Second attachment is more clear. Something like the moon has risen: طلع القمر
And if he were to ask for a gentle lady in marriage, he would be refused, and when he leaves the world it does not miss him, and if he goes out, his going out is not noticed, and if he falls sick, he is not attended to, and if he dies, he is not accompanied to his grave.

    Hello PeakXV,

The inscription in the larger image on the right is the first line of a poem and the one in the smaller image on the left is the second line. A rendering of the two lines is as follows:

O resplendent face of the illuminative moon
O raindrop of the wet, tender branch

    HTH

Thank you very kindly for your translation help, AbuHarris. A beautiful pair of lines they are. Is this from a well known Arabic poem/poet?

Apart from famous lines, verses inscribed on objects are often composed ad hoc by local poets who remain unknown. Here, the lines of the inscription seem to have been adapted from the lines from a 17th century Yemenite Zaydi poet al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. Jābir al-Habal al-Yamanī (d. 1079/1668) who was famous in his native Yemen. He died at the age of 31.
