In the short time I have be posting here I have been called; anti-Islamic, pig, troll, pretend muslim, big mouth, kaffar, and several other names by various posters.

And two posters said that they wanted to beat me up.

So why suffer the abuse?

Basically, just tried to create threads that would generate debate and discussion.

Something new for the board.

Thats not good, people argue all the time, but one can not just start threating others. I would recommend that you get a learned Shiekh and try to learn Islam indepth, you are always welcome to come here or go to other Islamic forums to post your queries.

May Allah (swt) guide all of us (and Muslims) to sirat-al-mustaqueem.

I was very shocked to have learnt of such things happening on this forum - it just goes to show that nothing can replace good manners regardless of what faith you hold to. Sadly, at the end of the day the faith that you hold manifests itself through actions and good speech - just beating your chest claiming to be Muslim but then acting with self-righteous intolerance is not good enough.

I may be prying but what could you have possible said to provoke such a response. I find it very disturbing that some Muslims think that just because they have the ''right'' answer it gives them the right to act like brutish bullies and then claim that this brutish behaviour should be seen as having ''love'' for the deen. I'm sorry but what type of ''love'' for the deen manifests itself in cursing your fellow brother?

Maybe its a cultural thing? Particularly in countries like Pakistan and India where there is generally higher levels of religious intolerance. Hence the type of Islamic discourse and atmosphere in these countries is very harsh - these are of course generalization and should not be taken as being hard rules but as comments on the general cultural setting. Which is why sometimes people get hurt or even worse killed in these countries for expressing their religious opinions on an issue.

Whereas you brother are based in the States - I've heard a lot of progressive work is being done in the US with scholars like Hamza Yusuf and the Zaytuna Institute where Islam is being discussed in a much more open, mature, tolerant and scholarly manner than say in Pakistan where it is highly politicised and used as a weapon by warring factions.

Don't even know where to begin responding to this most ignorant post.

The irony is, most of the individuals involved in Revert2001's responses were converts of native English and Australian backgrounds, with Revert2001 being American/Irish.

So what kind of love for deen manifests itself in making assumptions about your fellow brethren and having a low opinion of them? Maybe it's your open-mindedness, your maturity and scholarship, not to mention your remarkable tolerance.

"Islam is being discussed in a much more open, mature, tolerant and scholarly manner than say in Pakistan" - this is such a baseless, loathsome, foolish and irrational comment. Just one point in case is Mufti Taqi Uthmani of Pakistan, making huge strides in Islam and Economics - a million Hamza Yusuf's would not have reached such brilliance. But I wonder if that's a result of the narrow-minded, immature, intolerant and lay Pakistan you refer to.

And, I'm not Pakistani or Indian

I was just getting feed up with so called brothers calling me names and slandering me.

Because of my different back ground my take on issues within the ummah may be different than others.

But my opinions are just as valid as the next persons.
