    Bismihi Ta'ala

Wa-alaykumus Salaam waRahmatullahi waBarakaatuhu dear sister,

1.) Alhamdulillah, welcome to the Forum. We too are happy to have you on this forum. Hope you find it a wonderful learning experience.

2.) “Waswasah” is extremely common. Many threads on this forum indicate that so many more are plagued by the whisperings of shaytaan.

…As my respected Shaykh would say, ‘Whispering is Shaytaan’s work … this is what he is skilled in…. And he takes pleasure in causing distress to Believers…’
So don't allow him that pleasure. Ignore the whisperings.

Insha-Allah, you will find great benefit in the prescriptions given in the book : ‘Combating the whisperings of shaytaan’.

    http://yunuspatel.co.za/books-whisperingsofshaitaan.php

3.) Imaan is between hope and fear. Insha-Allah, taking the steps in giving up drugs, will be a great means of establishing a healthy balance – physicaly, mentally and emotionally, and also be greatly beneficial in removing the depression.

4.) The book, “Kicking the Habit” has benefitted literally thousands, Alhamdulillah. There are excellent prescriptions and suggestions given to those who want to give up drug/smoking/gambling habits.

Insha-Allah, it will benefit you too. The link is:

    http://yunuspatel.co.za/books-kickingthehabit.php

5.) If any of us can be even a little assistance to you in giving up the habit and making positive changes, then it is our pleasure and happiness. Alhamdulillah.

6.) Company that we keep is most impacting on our lives – so you have to be selective of your friends and company. Hold fast to the company of pious, righteous sisters who will influence you positively in leading a spiritually, wholesome life which is free of such actions which are displeasing to Allah Ta`ala.

7.) Allah Ta’ala is Most Forgiving. My Shaykh would say that Allah Ta’ala’s Ocean of Forgiveness is so wide and expansive. It is just for us to dive in…

    Allah Ta’ala informs us :

“Say : ‘O My Slaves Who Have Transgressed Against Themselves
(By Committing Evil Deeds And Sins)! Do Not Despair Of The Mercy Of Allah, Verily Allah Forgives All Sins. Truly He Is Oft-Forgiving, Most MERCIFUL.”
    [Surah Zumar 39 : 53]

8.) The fact that you are hurt and sad over your actions is a sign of Imaan. Alhamdulillah.

9.) May Allah Ta’ala keep you and all of us in His Special Protection, grant us the taufeeq of sincere repentance, inspire us on the Straight Path and grant us steadfastness with each step and breath we take.

    10.) Also request your duas.

Dear sister, I pray you are well InshAllah. Your depression is nothing but a test of your imaan and tawakkul in Allah...When you lose hope in Allah's mercy you MUST understand that your sins can never ever ever be greater than the Mercy of Allah!!

Think about the story of firawn...He was the greatest tyrant that has ever walked upon the face of this earth, He claimed godhood, committed shirk, killed innocent people, enslaved man and tortured others, honestly can you get worse than this? Yet when he was drowning in the sea Jibraeel alayhis salam threw mud in his mouth because He feared that firawn would seek forgiveness and Allahs mercy would overcome him... SubhanAllah, ponder over that. If Allah has the capacity to forgive someone like firawn then understand that He has so much more in store for you. Understand that when a person turns to Allah in humility Allah feels shy to turn him away empty handed, Allah feels shy to reject him.

"The Messenger of Allah said, "Allah laughs at the despair of His slaves, even though His help is so close!"

Abu Ruzain said, "Oh Messenger of Allah! Does our Lord laugh?"

    He said, "Yes."

Abu Ruzain said, "In that case, we will never lose hope in seeking good from a Lord that laughs."

    -Recorded by Ibn Maajah
""Therefore if the pains of this world tire you do not grieve.

For it may be that Allah wishes to hear your voice by way of dua. So pour out your desires in prostration and forget about it and know, that verily Allah does not forget it."

I too sometimes go through phases similar to the ones you describe, it usually lasts for a few days. It is difficult to pull myself out of it, almost as if someone else is in charge. But I do find that looking at the world in a negative light is a choice...we can CHOOSE to look at the world in a completely positive light. Life is a tremendous blessing, and death is also a blessing, so is illness and suffering (though we must seek the protection of Allah from it), in all conditions a Muslim is blessed, if they accept it without complaint.

We need to train our thoughts and mind, refuse to look at negative things, do not watch TV, avoid negative people and work on your self, be strong minded, speak to yourself, be a coach, tell yourself like a coach would, I will not allow you to look at the world negatively...we are not living in a meaningless universe, humans are the greatest of Allahs creation, our sins and our perception of them makes us grow closer to Allah swt, we do tawba to an All-Forgiving Lord, who loves people who repent. Never allow your thoughts to think bad thoughts about Allah, just refuse and affirm the good, Insha-Allah it will pass, and if it returns in the future you will be strong enough to fight it.

I am new here, and I am happy to have found this forum, but I am also unhappy bcuz of my depression:

I've been obssessed with waswasah for almost three montsh wich made my life a trash, hamdulilah now I've learned to ignore them but I haven't learnt yet how to deal with my depression: I can't stop feeling guilty and I am afraid I will burn in hell forever, I just can't stop thinking about it, I try to remember to myself that I must be strong and faithfull in Allah's mercy but my depression is stronger then me, I feel like I can't live anymore but I neither wanna die bcuz I am afraid of hell.. I am taking drugs and I wonder if it is halal in Islam?

however I must change my medication as they don't make me feel better!
I even wanted to take a cognitive therapy by a psycologist but here where I live I can't find a Muslim one!

What do you advise me to do?
I know there are many like me, and that you may be tired to respond always to the same question, but I feel so lonely as I don't have nobody who I can talk to..

Please, please, make du'a for me because I feel like my heart is overwhelmed by guilty and pain and I don't know what to do in order to feel better!

Please ask Allah to love me, I feel like I am a bad person and like I don't deserve his love, this hurts me so much.. I don't know how to change my feeling and how to control them, I've tried many times in many ways but at the ent I am always the same!

may Allah reward you for your patience and dua's. Jazak Allahu khair!
