It could be that this Pakistani brother has decided to follow the opinions of Ulama such as Imam Al Ghazali {Ra7imahullah}, AsShaykh al 3allama Dr. Yusuf Al Qaradawi etc etc.

not very likely that he read them. and imam ghazzali's 'opinion' did not say pop music with unislamic cheap lyrics is allowed. he 'allowed' a very narrow opening where he stated that a sheikh can allow his mureed to listen to pleasant 'sounds' if the ibadat/etc has given him a state of mental perplexity. so kindly dont quote the great imam as though he allowed metallica.
sheikh qardawi's opinion is disregarded because it is a minority stray opinion, though he is still a respected scholar .furthermore he gives the ruling of permissiveness. had his ruling be for impermissiveness then one may have considered it.

what is the evidence he read sh. qaradawi?
how many religious people in pakistan even know his name?
and i dont disregard it because i just 'can'. there are scholars who prohibit taking any fiqh from him. and also his stance on music weights next to none against the stance against it.
kindly read the rulings on minority opinions and understand what is and what is not a valid difference of opinion. its somewhere on this forum. shared twice in last few weeks for obvious reasons. there is a reason for it. tomorrow a deviant scholar says riba is allowed as it is 2012 and business cant be run without it and we muslims are already getting defeated by kuffar so we need to develop industry. and modernists bring this to the table and say look 99.9% scholars say riba is haram while 0.01% (by virtue of this deviant scholar) say it is now halal so this is a valid difference of opinion. you bloody mullahs should be more tolerant.
im not calling sh qaradawi a deviant. but i am just trying to make you see why minority opinions of permissiveness do not count as legit.

Also, even if he did follow the opinions of these two scholars, the kind of music he makes is definitely NOT permissible, not by any scholar.


Anyway, I highly doubt this fellow (Ali Haider) even knows who Imam Ghazalli or Sheikh Qaradawi. It seems he only turned to God because of the death of his son. Now that the pain has subsided, he's gone back to the evils of music.
May Allah guide him back, and take him away from the evils of the music industry.

Sidi Murabit was not banned as far as I recall. We had a small discussion about Imam Ghazali's opinion about music in this thread and Sidi Murabit accepted that this explanation was what he adheres to.
