Default Zakat - Fluctuation in the year

, sorry sister but I am also posting a question on zakat in this thread

scholars please reply to the following too

    1. if the savings are not equivalent to nisaab in the first four months of the zakat/saving calender, and accumulate to nisab amount in the fifth month, is zakat due after 1 year since you start saving or after one year and four months?

Could you make out an example for ease of understanding, i.e with dates.

, I wanted to ask something else and jumbled up the question because I am confused, here is what I asked:

I have zero savings in december 2011, lets say the nisaab is RS 65000 at the end of the year 2012. I save 20000 in january 2012...and keep on saving some money each month until it reaches 65000 in april 2011, It then keeps on increasing and never falls below the nisaab and in december 2012 the savings are say 100000, is zakat due in december 2012 or april 2013...(I think I know the answer now but plz reply to it yo never know, this is not what i wanted to ask exactly)

    Ok what about this scenario:

you put 65000 rs in your bank on 1st january 2012...you keep on adding to it but withdraw and use your savings in june 2012 and the balance goes back to nil, you then put the 65000 rs again in your bank in june 2012 and this keeps on increasing (without any withdrawals) until December 2012, is zakat due in december? (this is what I wanted to ask)

Hope I havent confused you enough...

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

    As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

    1. Zakāt will only become wajib once the savings reach the nisāb (Rs 65000). In your scenario 1, the nisāb is attained in April 2012. From April 2012 you will calculate 1 whole year and check in April 2013 whether you still have nisāb or not. If in April 2013 you have R 100,000 in your savings, which is above nisāb, then you will calculate zakat using this figure.

For your next year (i.e 2014), you will check your savings in April 2014. If you do not possess the nisāb at that time, then there will be no zakāt. [1]

    2. If you have the savings equal to or more than the nisāb at the beginning and at the end of your zakat year (worked out on a lunar calendar), then the fluctuations during the year will not make a difference. So, if in the beginning of the year you had Rs 65,000 in savings and then lost it all by April only to regain them by June of the same year, then as long as you have nisāb by the end of the year, you will pay zakāt for the whole year. This zakāt, like the scenario 1, will be calculated according to your savings at the end of the year. [2]
