I can only speak about Shariah Program. The short answer is yes you can learn online. We use paltalk and Skype, and most recently WizQ. Learning methods are a mix of recorded and live sessions, the biggest thing with online courses in any field is that it comes down to student motivation. You need to be highly motivated and disciplined to reach your goal. I have benefited greatly from the online experience, however if I was in a city that had a similar course in person, I would opt to go there in person. The benefits of being in the company of a good scholar is that you'll pick up more than just Arabic. So you need to look at the resources in your city/masjid/locality and if such scholars/programs exist opt for them, if they are not present or something doesn't work like schedules, etc. then try online. There are many different programs that are available.

    Wa alaykum assalaam,

Well, I suggest two things. One is to use Youtube, I am sure there are many free videos out there to teach you Arabic, other than that you could try some online sources, like ArabicPod.net/learnarabic and this brother's website arabic.speak7.com
I think audio and video sources are the best to teach Arabic, so you can stick to youtube and ArabicPod for a start, then you really need to get some books to master the language.

    All the best
