Salaam. simple question, yet i stumble to act upon it and hence do incorrect actions. Please tell me what can be said and done to the person who is mourning a relative.

When my 56 year old father died about 10 years ago, I coped with it largely by thinking about the idea that I might die soon too. I found the experience of burying him in the ground very enlightening in the sense that I realized that life is short. I had alot of negative thoughts in my head (whispers of shaitan) about Allah but I ignored them. I was also worried about what will happen to my father in the grave. But everyone is different I suppose it would be comforting to hear someone say positive things and just make dua for the marhum.
