Great thread, but to use an ironic phrase, you're preaching to the choir. Many people who tend to argue about the validity of music by clinging to the "minority opinion" argument are just trying to justify their actions, just how anyone can commit any major sin and justify it by using the same argument. Now, some people may not do so and they may have their solid evidence, whatever that may be, but we, as laypeople, have to avoid minority opinions and stick to the well trodden path set out by the majority of the ulama.

How brave of you to post what he said to you (or in a different thread) without it being a direct reply TO HIM, but rather post it as a "hey guys, look at what he said to me and here is a rebuttal that he might not read!".

FYI -- He may have a point that you missed. But you are not interested in what he has to say or else you would have included him in the conversation we see here in this post; you just want to make your "argument" to the same people that have the same opinion as you.
