Request mods to add 'Currently reading' option below Member's profiles.

I like the threads on books, and perhaps they can be bumped from time-to-time to highlight various books that are out there (that way we get to see who is/was reading what too). I wonder if listing books on profiles will stop members from posting under the book threads? If all we do is list and update books we are 'currently reading' on our profiles, every time we update the book, the previous books would no longer be listed whereas the book threads retain book titles so we can scroll through older posts to see/get ideas etc.

I really do prefer the threads and would feel so uncomfortable (both for myself and others) for not listing anything on my profile, if such an option became available. Perhaps an option for members to list a certain number of books they recommend (rather than currently reading) would be less intense?

There's no way to make a poll public once it has been private, because people who voted thinking it was private would get exposed.

sis, if you look at the 'what are you reading deen/dunya thread' there are only so many members active over there...out of the nearly 700-800 active members imagine if atleast half of them say what they are reading, everybody would be talking about books... wouldn't people be curious to know what you are reading if everyday you start carrying a book to your place of work or school...?

remember what the famous canadian educationist arnold adinborough once said something like 'curiosity is the very basis of education' members would only be curious to find out more about a book they find interesting, and once they come to know, would go on to read it themselves...i think you understand what i'm getting at.

Khadija tul Kubra (I am re-reading this one, because I like it, and because I finished The Sealed Nectar this past week.)

And I am about to start Maariful Qur'an later today..... I have been flirting with beginning it for several days now, opening the pdf file for volume 1,looking through the table of contents, and skimming through the pages. I usually dance with a work in the above manner, before finally diving in. I've already looked up information to learn about the author as well.

Having the actual book would be nice, but I am not that wealthy. I considered the cost of printing the pdf files, because I like to highlight and write notes. (Don't worry, I do not highlight nor write on my Qur'an!) BUt the cost of printing the pdf files would be too high. (I looked at how many pages an ink cartridge costs, and how many ink cartridges it would take to do one volume, plus the cost of paper and a binder..... I could purchase them cheaper!) So, alas, I will be reading on the pdf file. * sigh *
