    Default Assalam U Alaikum

Dear Brothers in islam.. I have a very serious and important question...
I am born in a family that calls itself HANAFI.. I also am a HANAFI..
Before starting my question i want to state the following points...
1)- I am a Muslim, and am trying to seek knowledge about my religion.
    2)- I am hanafi.
3)- I really do respect Imam Abu hanifa as well as other great scholars of Islam very much.
4)- By my Questions I don't mean any disrespect to anyone and never even in my worst dream can I mean any disrespect to our great Imam, and his students.
5)- I also state that any conversations that may take place, please may not be mistaken to be any kind of argument relating to maslaks..
6)- Finally I beg my brothers to answer me to clarify my doubts and not to show the other answerer that he/she is wrong and never to disrespect anyone please.

    My questions ..:-

1)- How is it that though Imam Abu Hanifa was the teacher of all the other Imam's, yet they contradict him ?
2)- Which Imam is absolutely right ?
3)- How is it that all the four Imam's are considered to be absolutely right, though there are many contradictions among them ?
4)- What is meant by Taqleed ?
5)- Is it right FOR ME to do Rafa'ul Dain while performing Salah ?
6)- Why is it that despite the fact that there are authentic i.e absolutely Sahih hadeeth present regarding Rafa'Ul Dain yet we Hanafi don't do it ?
    Finally ..
7)- Where is the proof that Rasool Allah(P.B.U.H) started Rafa'ul Dain and then left it ? Or asked the companions (R.A) to stop doing it ? Or just left it and did'nt say anything to the companions (R.A) ?

I beg the answerer to please quote whatever he/she may with reference to AUTHENTIC AHADEETH ONLY.... Or from the Quran....

    Thank You........

    3) The Prophet had multiple practices. Differences of opinion based on multiple ahadeeth and evidences.
    4) Blindly following an imam (i.e. sticking to one madhab)

    My questions ..:-

1)- How is it that though Imam Abu Hanifa was the teacher of all the other Imam's, yet they contradict him ?

people understand things differently, thus given the same evidences, they can come to different conclusions; this is why Allah has allowed differences of opinions from righteous muslim jurists; as long as the opinion is reached in good faith, then it's valid; there is a hadith that says, 'differences in opinion is a mercy'

2)- Which Imam is absolutely right ?

for the laymen [this term in this context includes even all the non-jurist scholars] all opinions are correct [yet laymen should stick to the opinion of their respective madhab and not 'pick and choose'] for their duty is just to follow, but for the jurists themselves, only their own opinion is correct and others are wrong, this is because they are qualified to be responsible to arrive at their own understandings, thus once they have reached an opinion, they cannot consider different opinions to be correct

3)- How is it that all the four Imam's are considered to be absolutely right, though there are many contradictions among them ?

    as above

4)- What is meant by Taqleed ?

following the rulings of scholars without having to see the evidences for ourselves; i.e, taking their rulings on trust; this is because the laymen cannot even judge for himself given the evidences for he does not have the prerequisite knowledge to judge them acurately, thus having to see the evidences himself before he accepts a ruling does not apply to him

5)- Is it right FOR ME to do Rafa'ul Dain while performing Salah ?

no, for it's not part of Hanafi madhab; one should stick to their own madhab in order not to follow their desires; since laymen do not have juristical knowledge, then their desires will probably play a part in choosing opinions of other schools and following desires is prohibbited

6)- Why is it that despite the fact that there are authentic i.e absolutely Sahih hadeeth present regarding Rafa'Ul Dain yet we Hanafi don't do it ?

because their is so much more evidences to be take into consideration than sahih hadiths; there could be other equally sahih hadiths confirming the hanafi opinion, etc, etc, and only a jurist has the insight to know this, thus we should consider that our Imam knew something that we dont and his opinion is still correct

    Finally ..
7)- Where is the proof that Rasool Allah(P.B.U.H) started Rafa'ul Dain and then left it ? Or asked the companions (R.A) to stop doing it ? Or just left it and did'nt say anything to the companions (R.A) ?

    pass

as said, evidences of hadith and Quran dont apply to us, for we wont be able to comprehensively understand them as to how their applied in a juristic way; their are many prerequisites of having a comprehensive insight, not least being a Master of Arabic, thus unless we study for several decades and possibly become a mujtahid scholar ourselves, there is no point in having to see evidences before we accept the rulings of the Masters

I think brother you have fallen under salafi influences; they are infact somewhat astray from the traditional path, thus here is a link that will give you ample proof of the rightly guided group of muslims, and a guideline of how to recognise authentic Islamic teachers:

    hope this helps
