Is this thing free from music or other fitna and also does it take enough steps to control opposite gender interaction and if not, what is good about it for it will open the doors to fitna like other social websites? If it is being promoted, what is special about it?

No one could do 100% moderation sister. Allah knows the best. They are just connecting Ummah to the Ulema. Now, it depends, on Ummah that how they utilize that service. They can't control their actions but at least they could remove those things from share which are against Islam.

If salaamworld allows human images as 'Avator' then I won't call it as good or so what 'Islamic'.

I have seen some photos in gallery section in Salaamworld website and it really gave me the wrong and opposite impression of what you are telling about connection between the heirs of Prophets and ummah.

I have a friend in Durul Uloom Deoband India becoming a Mufti MashAllah!, uses facebook and having his picture as avatar.

And isolation is not the solution, if u wanna remove something from a society just make their minds. Isolation acts like something that could blast at any time.

It is a good initiative , Mashallah.

And come on people , its not the fault of social media if people use it in a bad manner. So please , don't come up with such things as "Would it allow girls and boys to talk? " LOL! Like seriously? How on Earth can you stop someone from talking to opposite sex , if they WANT to do it? Please , be rational in your approach. Isolation is NOT good for Muslims and Islam.

Alright!

Brother as you know that facebook ranked 2nd globally because of the daily traffic on site. And as per Jewish platform, they won't respect us and our moral values. you may find lot many things shared over facebook against Sharia and even disrespectful to the Muslims and FB know that even but they don't tak any actions against it even if we REPORT that thing. And now a days Israel has dominated the Internet. porn, drugs, hacking, adultery other cyber crimes all are becoming popular over here. People take these things as fun. And you may not find a single site without having ad of dating or something vulgar.

So, SW is going into every country to meet Ulema and religious personalities there. To gather them & discuss things to make this project more better. And the project is funded by businessmen from many countries.

Currently, they are just going to launch something like facebook and from the next year and so .... they are planning to lauch services like, hotmail/gmail, wikipedia, youtube, hajj/umrah services, e-shopping, e.t.c;

And in 2013, planning to lauch their regional offices in Karachi, Hyderabad (INDIA), Sydney, New York, Beijing, London, Franfurt and many other cities...

So, may Allah bless them InshAllah! a Virtual Caliphate is a ahead

Generally speaking, I'm not talking about the halaal/haraam Deobandi/barelwi issues, but about the affect it will give to the opposite genders whether it is 'Ulema or not.

Quran:

Tell the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their private parts
Tell the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their private parts

According to Mufti Taqi Usman Sahab (Senior Deobandi) if one loves the prophet of Allah, Nabi-e-Rahmat :saws: then they should AVOID facebook.

Well, as I said you earlier that it really gave me the bad impression about the photos there in the Gallery. Well, we are not stopping SalaamWorld nor we'll

, but at-least don't give the name of Islam when it doesn't follow it.

And that's what I mean ... lower & guard

And for the use of FB, there is Turkish hacker group MashAllah! doing such a good job by hacking pages/group & profiles that are against Islam and they have Mufti Council too for the pre-hack discussion.

And could you please locate me those pictures which are against Islam by SW?
