Exclamation Can't fast due to illness - then what?

    Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullaah

I won't be able to fast this ramadan because of an illness that I have - what are the steps I need to take next? E.g. how many people per day do I have to feed, etc.?

If you are experiencing such an illness that you are unable to fast, due to deteriorating health, then you will be excused from fasting. If you expected to recover from this illness, then you will have to make up (Qadhaa of) these missed fasts.

However, if the sickness is permanent and there is no hope of recovery then she must offer fidya (monetary compensation) for every missed fast.

The value of this Fidya is the same as Sadaqatul fitr, which is the value of 1.6 kg of wheat or 3.2 kg of barley. The present average value of 1.6kg of wheat is R17.00 .

I will get the GBP value from one of my friends. Basically you can calculate the price of 1.6 kg of wheat according to the place you are at.

Sorry, but maulana abuhajira, the value you gave for 1.6 kg of wheat was in what currency? Dollars? I need to know for zakat al-Fitr.

sister but that would only translate to 30 cents in US currency! Surely zakat al-fitr is not that low.

I'll wait for Maulana to clarify.

I have asked one of my friends and he mentions that it is GBP 1.50 . He also mentioned that some of them have calculated it at GBP 2. So you can give that much to be cautious.
