I'm sorry to say I don't share the bubbly enthusiasm for this arab spring democracy. True, just about every sheikh and his donkey from all the hizbs are just peachey about the ikwaan. And I've learned something new about 'Fiqh for Today'. But its not what I've understood of ALLAH's Islam. e.g. I'm on 'hard times' but I cannot, use 'fiqh for today' by getting into the drugs trade to solve my short term problems. And this is how I see this dabbling in democracy. Full on Haram.

And, how can you move forward when the voting-power rests now with drug pushers, addicts, prostitutes, pimps, homosexuals, lesbians, athiests, Fatimiyeen shias, seculars & christians (Copts) to decide if ALLAH, His Messenger & His Shariah are acceptable? More than likely the reverse will occur. Anyone pushing for khilafah will be the 'new khawarij' and imprisoned. And I think not that this 'democracy fling' will please ALLAH.
