Default Best place to study Qira'aat

    Assalaamu'alaikum,

If one has memorised the Qur'an in one riwaya and has a grasp of tajweed to a relatively advanced level, where is the best place to study the qira'at, or to find shuyukh with the 'best sanads' to do a hifz ijaza with or to study tajweed to an expert level?

I've heard lots of things about Egypt and Mauritania but am wondering if anyone has more information? If one was to study abroad somewhere after Hifz to specialise in the Qur'an and qira'at, where should they go?
The messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said: "The servant speaks words, the consequences of which he does not realize, and for which he is sent down into the depths of the Fire further than the distance between the east and the west."

    [Bukhari and Muslim].

I would recommend starting locally (maybe even get the ijaza locally) and then going to Egypt for more advanced studies and higher ijazas. In Egypt, probably Cairo is the best place, but teachers are available everywhere. Many teachers teach one-to-one, both the mutoon as well as the actual riwayah.

There are also institutes like this one: http://fajr.wordpress.com/2009/04/28...awi-institute/

if you really want the best then you go to Syria. but its not possible at the moment. one of the shuyukh visited south africa a few years back & sat with the teachers of one of the madrasahs & on leaving he told hes guid that he wouldnt give ijaazah to any of the students who were studying qiraat & not even their teachers. so you must know that its very strict. my friend whent to syria & requested ijazah over a few months the sheikh looked at him & said to him if you want an ijazah go into one of the allies & go buy one because you not getting it from me. another read surah fatihah over a hundred times before he could carry on to baqarah but he did get his ijazah after a year, but in hafs only.

so if you want a good sanad then Syria is the place to go. but to complete the full qari program by any sheikh you would have to read the entire quraan atleast once in each of the 10 qiraa'at from memory. so that would take years
