Default Secret tip to Hifz: CONSISTENCY

    CONSISTENCY
trust me this not spamming. You have to master this to get any serious progress. Oh and the tip is not that secret (just my advertising method to get "blue pill" folks on to this thread). Ask any haafiz and he/she will not fail to agree.

As salam Alikum wa rahmat Allah wa barakatuh,

Many students who recite to me in local masjid ask me what is the secret to hifz? My response is make dua for Allah to give you love for him, his Rasool Aalaihi salawaat wa salam and for his book. Have etiquette/adab for the book of Allah and your shaykh. Rest are technicalities.

This love for his book should be far greater than anything you love in this dunya. You should have passion and love so much that if you miss a day in hifz and reciting to your shaykh, you should feel restless and incomplete. You should be able to go without food/drink a day but not Qur'an.

So understand this and if Allah gives you this love for his book take it, thank him, learn it, implement it, and teach others with same love and adab.
    وَنَادَيْتُ أللَّهُمَّ يَا خَيْرَ سَامِعٍ
    أَعِذْنِي مِنَ التَّسْمِيعِ قَوْلاً وَمِفْعَلاَ

    Wa'alaykas-salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh

    Maa shaa' Allaah, lovely advice.

I've missed out on a few days of hifdh and I can feel like my hifdh has suffered.
