    Also, Brother Justwanttolearn,

As to your concern about your black dog. I once spent quite a bit of time researching this issue.

It seems no one actually knows why black dogs were singled out. But many people believe that it was referring to black hyenas that lived on the outskirts of the village during that time period. While others suggest the culprit was the wild African dog. Either one of these animal would have neen a danger to both humans and livestock.

Another possibility for the ban on dogs was the fear of rabies infected dogs wandering throughout the town. Thus by listing what dogs could be owned based of their usefulness to the owners and the community. Which in effect, de facto mandated that all dogs must have a responsible and identifiable owner.

Thus all stray dogs that obviously threatened the citizens safety could be disposed of.

Thank Allah that you dont have to clean up after a dog that isnt house trained, or has disobeyed its training for some reason.
Dogs also dirty parks and grass areas where humans should be able to enjoy.
It has become so bad that many American cities now have dog parks reserved only for dogs, while placing greater legal restrictions on dogs in normal parks.
I have personally seen kufar favor their dogs over their own kids!!!

Dogs compete for emotional dominance even to the point of claiming a their human master as their 'possession' against the human's own spouse. A female dog will literally claim the human master as her possession and fight off his wife, even sleep between spouses in the bed. Vice versa for male dogs.

And small dogs are some of the most competitive in this way.

Also, few people realize that countries like America have a massive number of dogs which they destroy each year because humans cant or wont care for them. And feral dog populations are a major health and safety threat to human societies struggling with societal problems such as economic depression, war, starvation.

It is well known through history that feral dog packs have eaten the dead at battlefields, and scavenged at cemetaries. They are also known to hunt weak humans, like children and elderly.

These may not be threats in advanced developed, stable societies, but a country like America could easily suffer from them were its circumstances to change. and much of the world had to deal with these threats simply by hunting and killing feral packs, until contemporary wildlife management strategies were developed.

    And Allah knows best.

Brother justwanttolearn - there's no guarantee that we will live to see the next moment, much less five years, we all know it well, and remember there's no coming back, ever.

Join the school for now, learning will happen along the way.
May Allah SWT guide you, summa aameen.

    So true brother Pluto.

Living in America I am in constant fear of dogs attacking me or accidently steeping on some dog poop.

Sometimes I can barely sleep at night worrying about this canine plague that is destroying our country and our way of life.

    Someone please help us.........!!

    Justwanttolearn,

The jewish ancestor thing that you are worried about should be a moot point.

Any muslim who makes a big deal of it; is just operating out of ignorance and basic stupidity.

I know several reverted Jewish people who are upright muslims and a great benefit to our community and I haven't ever heard anyone slander them based on their past ethnicity.

In fact, that they were once Jewish and are now part of the ummah is pointed out with a great sense of wonderment and pride. And just reaffirms the truth that Islam is inclusive, egalitarian and universal for all mankind.

I too have been thinking about this. I am a hispanic American born revert whom has had the pleasure of visiting Pakistan 2 times last year and will go later this year Insha Allah. I agree with the many posts in regards to how reverts are treated. Yes we are treated with respect but when it comes to tying the knots it can be challenging. I say this with experience since my relationship was found by a third party and not her parents. Yes it has gotten messy but it all mostly depends on how educated the person is. My father in law did not take it as hard as I thought he would since he only wanted to see his daughter happy and as long as I was a practicing Muslim that`s all that mattered to him. He is a college physics professor as well as owner of 2 schools. The mother on the other hand took some time but finally got down to accepting me as her son law. She has always grown up in a more conservative society with little education. On the other hand the rest of her family such as aunties, uncles, cousins are all nothing but gossips. Unfortunately for a Pakistani women to get married to a foreigner is still a big thing over there. People have the tendacy to judge us without knowing our intentions. I of course blame this on the media, movies, music and the way we Americans are viewed as a society. My advice would be to be prepared to marry her ENTIRE family should you find a suitable Pakistani Muslima. They will notice EVERYTHING that you say and do. On the other hand it is a true blessing being married to one and I thank Allah (SWT) for giving me such a suitable wife.

I understand your intentions as you would like to live in a Islamic society trust me that is what my main wish is as well. The fact that many don`t understand why is because they are not in our shoes. We reverts want to experience the Islamic life ourselves. Living in the west is not the same even when you live around Muslims. The environment, the lack of hearing live Adhan while being at home as well as the social life is all not the same. Halal meat as well as Islamic clothings tend to be more expensive here. I have heard from many fellow brothers and sisters complaining on how much they regret for staying in the States because their kids has become rebellious and do not act like true Muslims. It disappoints me seeing many of my fellow college Muslims students rather waste their time by going to parties and drinking instead of staying at home and working on their productivity. I also envy them for being born Muslims and for having a much better knowledge then me when it comes to praying and yet I`m still stuck here praying along with a youtube video since I`m having trouble memorizing my Arabic. Of course its easy to judge the parents but they can only do so much as they`re mostly working during the day and are not with their kids when they are in school getting peer pressured by other kids.

My main advise is to be prepared to face the awkward stares if you end up moving to Pakistan. Dressing like them is a key and it is always best to walk with a native so he could do all the talking and not give yourself away by your accent. Islamabad is where its at but Lahore is not that bad either. I have met a couple of foreigners there whom are running nice businesses there and they all live comfortably. If you would like a bit more luxury then yes I agree that the gulf would be a suitable region to live. Good luck in your decision

On a practical note - give your stomach at least 6 months to a year to adjust to the environment in Pakistan, and prepare to frequent the bathroom

Thanks for the post and advise brothers.

Question: I still only wear western style clothes and haven't ever worn any so called Islamic costumes; such as a thobe, kufi, or the pantaloons I see Indians and PK's wear. And I don't plan to change my style of clothing.

Would this be a problem there; or in any other Islamic country?
