I've memorized here and there quite a few juz but I slack off too often

To a certain extent if one announces his intention of doing a particular act of worship, it can may fall in to riyaa'. However, we must think good of everyone and look at the circumstances and considering this is a Hifdh forum, then I don't see that the OP is attempting to show off and Allaah knows best.

Alsalam Alikom br Abdullah
let me tell you about my situation. I am an Arabic speaker Alhamdolilah so memorizing is not a problem for me, the issue is slacking off. I figured out that if I put in one hour each day (30 min review old, 30 min memorize new) then I will finish the Quran within months. So the issue for me is laziness and not having someone to join me and motivate me. So I found a young brother who is in the same boat as me and we decided to stay in touch by using google calendar. We made a new google account and each day we have to memorize for at least 1 hr and must post that we did so in the calendar. Our goal is to finish it by next Ramadan. To be honest I will be very busy with school starting on the 27th of this month (August) so I doubt that I will be able to hold any meetings with you on skype. But I will fight with all that I got for this one hour of daily Quran. If you want to join us in the posting on the google calendar that we made and help to motivate us and yourself please let me know.
