The Times of Devastation
HADHRAT ABU HURAIRAH (radhiyallahu anhu) narrated that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:
"When state funds will be made a rotation (i.e. misappropriated by the rulers and their puppets); when Amaanat (Trust funds) will be plundered as if these are booty; when payment of Zakaat is considered to be a fine (or penalty); when Ilm (of the Deen) will be acquired for reasons other than the Deen; when a man will obey his wife, disobey his mother, become close to his friend and distance himself from his father; when voices will become loud in the Musaajid; when a community will make its faasiq (immoral o*ne) its leader; when the ruler of a nation will be their worst scoundrel; when a man will be honoured o*nly because of fear for his evil; when singing girls and musical instruments will become widespread; when liquor will be consumed in abundance, and when the latter people of this Ummah will curse its former (pious) predecessors, then await at that time a red-hot scorching wind, earthquakes, swallowing of people by the earth, disfiguration of people and showers of stones (from the sky)." (Tirmizi)
Certainly, most of these lesser signs of Qiyaamah are in the process of enactment. All the evils mentioned in this Hadith are daily perpetrations in front of our eyes. These evils have engulfed every segment of society in every country even in the remotest village of the Muslim world.
In view of these evil developments and the perverted transgression in which Muslims –both the elite and the masses—are immersed in, the massive earthquake and tidal wave which devastated several regions in which mostly Muslims were killed and affected are not at all surprising.
We are seeing the materialisation of the sacred predictions of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). Such predictions also testify to the truth of the Nubuwwat of Muahammadur Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam).
INCREASE
These natural disasters are phenomena which will be o*n the increase, and no amount of planning and technology will succeed in thwarting the Divine Decree. These destructive calamities are the Divine Response for the wanton and reckless villainy, perverted transgression and immorality of mankind in general, and of Muslims in particular.
The key for unleashing the Wrath of Allah Ta’ala is the intransigent resolution of the Ummah to plod the path of immorality and vice—a path which the Ummah has determinedly adopted with no thought of repentance and reformation. The consequences of such vile intransigence are manifesting themselves in the form of these natural calamities. But, it appears that Muslims have completely lost the capacity of spiritual vision.
WARNINGInspite of the rippling effect of the Athaab of Allah Ta’ala having reached our shores portending the Divine Warning of Athaab, Muslims continue in their stupor of flagrant and reckless transgression. Are we waiting for the Quake and the Wave to crash down o*n us before we understand the Message of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam)?
