No, Taraweeh Salah is not optional rather Sunnah Muakkadah (emphasized sunnah)

"التراويح سنة" كما في الخلاصة وهي مؤكدة كما في الاختيار
Sunnah Mu'akkadah means that one will be sinful in leaving it out.
"Sunnah Muakkada Salāt: Those Salāt, which are close to Wājib and incurs sin if omitted continuously without a valid Sharī excuse. It literally translates as “emphasized Sunnah`s”[i]
