    Default Sajdah-E-Tilawat

    Assalam alekum.
I have a query regardign sajdah e tilawat. while reciting Quran-e-pak in Ramadan, I forgot to perform sajdah e tilawat. So far I have read first 20 Para(chapters) of holy Quran but still has not performed even a single sajdah tilawat. Earlier I was thinking to perform all them once at the end of completing reading all Quran but someone told me that delaying sajdah tilawat is sinful and one should perform it as soon as possible.

So now I want to perform all of them till para 20. Could any one plz tell me how many sajdah I need to perform so far till para 20?

I think around 6 Sajdah... you could do more Sajdah-e-Tilawat than obligatory, though. Its of no harm.

    Wa'alaikum assalaam brother,

If you have read up to juz' 20 you will be somewhere in Surah Naml so up to that point there will have been 9 sajdahs:

The messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said: "The servant speaks words, the consequences of which he does not realize, and for which he is sent down into the depths of the Fire further than the distance between the east and the west."

    Asalaamulaikum,

Could someone kindly clarify the exact procedure/process of Sajda-e-tilawat please...

Do you make niyat for Sajda tilawat, takbir, go straight into Sajda, recite subhana rabbiyal'alaa 3 times, go into sitting position, go back into Sajda and recite again, come back into sitting position and complete with salaam either side or is this incorrect?

    Please help.

    JazakAllah khair

If one reads a sajdah verse more than a few times does he have to perform multiple sajdah-tilawat?
And also can the sajdah be delayed to the end of the recitation. Lets say I came across three sajdah's as I like to recite Quran randomly. I might read a few verses in one surah. Then might turn pages to another surah and read a few verses from there. I also like to multiple read a verse. So how should I perform sajdah -e-tilawat.

Insha'Allah I can answer this for you because I had asked a scholar the same thing a while ago and done some reading up on it as well. There are instances when one may be repeating the same verse over and over again, particularly those who are memorizing the Quran or that particular Surah/section. If you are sitting in the same place repeating the verse, then only one Sajdah-e-Tilawat will be sufficent. For example, if you are sitting in the same spot and recite a sajda verse 50 times, that doesn't mean you have make 50 sajdas but rather Insha'Allah one sajda for all 50 is enough.

This only applies if you are sitting in the same place. If you happen to get up and switch places, go into a different room and start reciting, or if you are holding the Quran and walking around while repeating the verse(s), etc, then you would have to account for each individual place and make a sajda for each one (tough to do when you are walking as you are constantly shifting place).

Insha'Allah someone will correct me if I said anything incorrect. Allah knows best.

    I am not a scholar.
