Questions about kufr

1. Sometimes you see on tv/films, jokes are made mocking aspects of Islam or Prophet's of Islam such as Isa (this is common in the west). If someone laughs at these jokes, even without wanting to, does this mean he has committed kufr?

2. I saw a video of dawat e islami where he was warning of statements of kufr, etc. Then he taught everyone to pray 'if i have ever committed kufr, please forgive me Ya Allah'. Does this not count as doubting your own imaan, which is kufr itself?

3. Under what circumstances is doubting your own imaan kufr? I mean, what if you fear nifaaq or fear that you may have committed kufr but are unaware of it, etc? Does this fear itself count as doubt (of your own imaan)?

These are excellent and very relevant questions. Especially in this intellectually enlightened age where people criticise and debate anything and everything from Quranic verses, to some of Prophet SAW's actions to criticism of sahabas (even by non-shias).

Is there a comprehensive book or resource out there that clarifies what actions/speeches puts someone into kufr?

The Habashis has a big issue with making a takfir on themselves, so they are always making the Shahadah with themselves... The shuyukh that I studied with said, the rulings that Habashi are true but they are for judges... to make rulings on people who are being judged... they are not for common people to be reading and making takfir on themselves or other people. They said, for common people, they must understand, that if you pray five times a day you are making shahada five times a day and that is sufficient for the common Muslims. The religion is easy... No one made the religion complicated on themselves except that it overwhelmed them and might cause them to leave islam for real...

I heard a Shaykh say Amanto billahi wa rusulihi (I believe in Allah and His Rasul), if you have doubts.

I read a book where scholars debated on whether it is ok to say I am a Momin or a Muslim, or whether one should say if Allah wills first...Some were saying one must not say insha-Allah because it means you doubt your own iman, others were saying you should say insha-Allah because you do not know if you are accepted when you die. My head started to hurt so I stopped reading it and just trust in Allah that He will Protect me.

The sixth kalima covers kufr and should be recited on a daily basis.

10. A person's son or beloved one passed away, so he said: "O Allah! Why did You oppress me in this way? Why are You torturing me?" By saying this, the person will become a kaafir.
