Default (Sisters only) I wasn't able to post in the Sisters only fourm.

    Salaam,
I have a question regarding my period. My periods have always been irregular, I never know when they will start. When Ramadan started this year I was spotting but I still fasted because I sometimes do bleed for an excessive number of days (3 months max). It is nearing the end of Ramadan and I am still either bleeding or I have blood cloths or I have spotting. My mom told to fast and not pray or not fast at all. Can you please help me out?
    Jazakallah.

wa alaikumussalaam wa rahmatullaah dearest sister,
seems like we're on the same boat as im also very new to SF..tryna figure things out.. lol khair
regarding ur question, yes u have understood correctly. for shawaafi' max haydh is 15 days (least being 1 day 1 night) never the less, whatever will exceed these 15 days will be regarded as isithaadah .
the minimum period oof purity (aqall e tuhr) between two bleeding periods must be 15 days (someone more knowledgeable plz confirm if its the same acc to other madhaahib) .
keeping this is mind , less say ur haydh was 15days..and then for 15days u still bled (that would be istihaada) and then from the next day again itd be haydh. (dont know if u bleed this much though, just stating the mas'ala)
hope this clarifies rather than confuses! haydh issues I humbly feel are very delicate
    wAllaahu a'lam

Maybe you could consider a temporary thread for sisters who are 'new or strolling through' here.. just a thought.

    Eid Mubaraaks

What is the minimum period of purity (tuhr)? My menstrual cycle is not regular. Sometimes I do not have a period for months, sometimes it comes on time. I did ghusl following my period ten days ago, and during this time there was some light yellow spotting from time to time, but after ten days it increased and became a new period, with cramps (period pains) and the usual colour of menstrual blood. I was told to do ghusl and pray because the minimum length of tuhr (purity following the previous period) is fifteen days. Please advise me, may Allaah reward you with good, because I stopped praying, thinking that this was a period.

    Praise be to Allaah.
There is no set minimum limit for the period of purity between two menstrual periods, rather when a woman sees the blood – i.e., menstrual blood which is “black” (dark red), recognizable and has a distinct odour – she should refrain from fasting and praying, on condition that the total number of days of menstrual bleeding does not exceed half of the cycle (i.e., fifteen days in the month). Yellowish and brownish discharge seen after the period has ended are of no significance and they do not come under the same rulings as menstruation.

    Shaykh ‘Abd al-Kareem al-Khudayr

I have some health problems and my period comes twice each month, and lasts for seven to ten days each time. How should I fast in Ramadaan, and how should I pray?.

    Praise be to Allaah.
The ruling depends on the reason for it; if the reason is present, the ruling applies. If there is menstrual blood which is known by its characteristics and colour, then the woman must follow the rulings on menstruation, and prayer, fasting and intercourse are forbidden at that time, even if it happens more than once in a month and even if it lasts more than the usual number of days each month.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about a woman whose period came, then she became pure and did ghusl, then after she had prayed for nine days, she started to bleed again, so she did not pray for three days, then she became pure and prayed for eleven days, then her period came again as usual. Should she repeat the prayers she offered during those three days or should they be regarded as part of her period?

    He replied:

When the period comes it is hayd (menstruation) regardless of whether a long time or a short one has passed between it and the previous period. If a woman has her period then becomes pure, then after five days, or six, or ten, her period comes again, she should stop praying because this is hayd. This applies all the time. Every time she becomes pure then her period comes again, she has to stop praying etc. But if she bleeds continually and it only stops for a short while, then she is mustahaadah (one who suffers from istihaadah or non-menstrual vaginal bleeding), and in that case she should only stop praying for the duration of her normal menses.

Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 11 Shawwaal 230.

    And Allaah knows best.

    wassalaam my dearest sister,
quite complicated indeed. I'd refer to an aalim/mufti.
how abt removing the title sisters only so that perhaps inshaAllaah someone more knowledgeable can assist.whilst learning masaa'il/deen, it isnt praiseworthy to show superficial hayaa (shyness). nay its condemned. this is our great deen, no wrong intentions ofc inshaAllaah. wAllaahu a'lam
    hope u can agree!
    was salaam
