Default Women during congregation- what to do if...?

    Assalamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I just wanted to know about how to deal with this kind of situation:

Usually, if I am in a madrasah or masjid for some reason and jamah is going I will join in. Sometimes I don't join in and nobody usually says anything. Sometimes if I hear a letter wrongly pronounced I repeat the prayer...(I am not sure to what degree the Tajweed should be). Now, I have never had this issue but today I was somewhere and dhuhr jamah time came in. I was not sure whether the recitation would be okay nor did I know whether the imam had intended for the sisters as well (as this was just a pure one off as we just happened to be there) so I intended to pray by myself. After the salah was over I was questioned by the sisters as to why I didn't join in, for fear of fitnah I don't argue and usually nobody questions why, but today somebody did. They told me when a jamaah is going on it is better to join it. So now I am kind of confused. Is it better for a sister to pray in jamaah if it is going on and that not to join the congregation is offensive? If my teachers do jamaah while in madrasah I pray behind them because I know they know we are there and that I can trust them. If we have to pray alone for some reason nobody says anything over there.

So, can a sister pray by herself while a congregation is going on and will it be worse than praying in the congregation?

    JazakumAllahu khairan.

Some of the links from this link don't work but you should be able to find some helpful info :
