Default Barbican Malt Drink? and Freez Drinks.. are they halal?

    Asslamu alaykum.

whats the rulings on these drinks that look like alcohol? the ffreeze look like wkd or alco pops but i have seen them becoming more available in hmc certified places. So im assuming they are halal and from the little read up on net, they seem halal.

But what about the barbican malt drinks people sell? and that which look like beer bottles , sold widely in middle east, even saw them in madina when i was there?

seems a lot of different opinions on malt drinks? are they halal as my cousin has just brought some bottles home and im doubtful.

    Jazakallah

    Wassalam

It it's not an alcohol/intoxicant, then why should it not be okay to drink?

In an assumption that the drink is completely free of khamr, the drink itself is permissible. However, looking at the product one cannot but exclaim that it is trying to copy a beer bottle. This poses two problems.

    a. Taking talazzuz (pleasure) from something that is designed to resemble something haram.
    b. Tashabbuh bil fussaq. (emulating the fussaq).

Both these factors will render such drinks Makruh Tanzih in the least. This is if a person does not have the intention to emulate the fussaq. If he intends to act like he is drinking some beer, then that will be even more severe.

Rasulullah said, "A person who emulates a nation will be counted from among them".

It is for this reason, while the drink itself may be halal, it will be makruh to take pleasure from it.
