    Default Waking up for Sehri

    Salaam

We are roughly half way through Ramadhan yet I am still having a problem getting up for Sehri-I just about make it for Fajr salaah. The main problem is I can't go to sleep regardless of how early I wake up. I've ended up coming online just to try and make myself feel sleepy as funny as it sounds.

    Any suggestions??

    lol.....

How about trying to digest the Iftar before Isha prayer. Maybe if your stomach is full at sleeping time, it will be hard for you to go to sleep. Were you having same problems before Ramadan? If the problem persists throughout the year, then what you could try to do is deprive youself of sleep for a day and then since you will be really sleepy, go to sleep early. And then continue from that time from that day onwards.

For example, if you usually go to sleep at 1:00 AM. In the weekends, don't go to sleep all night long except an hour or two before Fajar. Don't go to sleep the next day in the daytime. But at night, since you will be really sleepy, go to sleep early and then maybe you will be able to go to sleep early from that day onwards. It might take a day or two to get used to it though.

I've tried it a couple of times, and it has worked Alhamdulillah.

    salam,
    nazim

I've been thinking myself that this is the problem or certainly part of it. For example I came back from taraweeh about an hour ago and have literally stuffed myself. The thing is I try and eat as least as possible after iftar as trying to read taraweeh with a full stomach is not a very clever idea.

I'm gonna put on all my alarms tonight to ensure I get up for suhur tomorrow Inshallah.

With all due respect Shaykh eteacher, it is not as easy as it sounds. I mean, to you it might seem like reality and that is the solution. But that is not the really the case. It just doesnt work for me.

I have had Yaseen's problem for about 2 years now. It's really realy hard. Affects your entire life.

    Ma salam

    Salaam

For me it's going asleep now-at night time. After Suhur no problem. In fact I've been late on a number of occasions for work because I can't get up. Thankfully I've booked most days off in Ramadhan for this reason. I'd probably be sacked if I didn't book these days off. For example yesterday I should've started at 9 and just about made it for 10. To his credit my managers cool with me otherwise I'd be in trouble.

Anyway I'm off tomorrow so I'll probably just wake up for zuhr after sehri.

i have same prob, my sleeps pretty messed up going into ramadhan. When i can't sleep i tend to stay up and watch something.

take a hot shower and leave heating on in your room for 10-20mins. I fall asleep a lot quicker when heating on.

    salamualaikum wa rahamatullah

i had the same problem when i was a student, but mashallah there are solutions in islam for everything, try sleeping the sunnah way, i.e lie on your right, recite the Qul;s ayatul kursi etc blow on ur body. This may sound very simplistic but the more we follow the sunnah, the better our lives will be inshallah.

    salaam

Ramadhan has flown by without realizing. Yet unfortunately this is a problem I just can't solve. To be honest I set my alarm so I don't miss Fajr because of this and have only woken for suhur on 4 occasions so far.

Put on some lavender oils, they have calming and relaxing properties.

Lie in your bed at the time you wish to be sleeping ie. 10pm and take a tasbeeh to bed with you ! Trust me this works! Recite dhikr with a low voice, and turn off the light...you won't even know when you have fallen asleep

And most importantly..make intention! Make sincere intention that you wish to wake for sehri -- soon after you won't even need an alarm clock to wake you inshaallah.
