    Default sami' allahu liman hamidah

so i just recently saw that there is an ayn after 'sami'. does that change the pronounciation alot. i never knew so i prnounced it without the 'ayn. i know in the hanafi madhab its sunnah but ive been praying like a maliki too, and if you miss a sunnah 3 times u do sajdah as sawh(sp?).

do i repeat any prayers or is the small mistake not that bad?

    Assalaamu Alaikum

In arabic the actual sentence is

    سَمِعَ الله لِمَنْ حَمِدَه
meaning "Allah has heard he who praised him"

if you miss out the letter 'Ayn then the meaning "has heard" will no longer be there.

    Assalaamu Alaikum

i guess you have to listen really carefully, but lost of times, people do leve out the Ayn...but you have to read the Ayn because without it the word isn't complete, it would be like taking all the vowel or consonants out of someones name.

    NOO!!!

Don't worry Kareem I asked the Maliki Shaykh Ali al-Iraqi this EXACT quesiton last week:

    Assalam 'Alaykum,

Bismillah wal Hamdulilah was Salatu was Salam 'ala Rasul Allah Sayyidina wa Mawlana.

I have just noticed that when I pray I say "Samee Allah liman Hamidah" instead of "Sam'i Allah liman Hamidah" and I leave out the 'Ayn sound. I have been doing this for years as I hear others saying it so fast that I miss the 'Ayn sound. Do I have to make up these prayers? Jazakallahu Khayrun

    ---------

After a research I came to the conclusin that you don't have to repeat the prayers.

Is there actually a difference between the 2? Since you leave out the alif, it sounds almost the same...

    سَمِعَ الله
    sami-'Allah

And you cant read the above like this right: Sam'i Allah (quote from omar)
And if he were to ask for a gentle lady in marriage, he would be refused, and when he leaves the world it does not miss him, and if he goes out, his going out is not noticed, and if he falls sick, he is not attended to, and if he dies, he is not accompanied to his grave.
