Got a chance to meet him when he came to Toronto last summer.
Masha-Allah gave a long talk in arabic at Nugget. The translator was weak. Was Salafi I believe and was skewing some issues the Shaykh was mentioning on Taqleed etc. Ajeeb.
It would be nice to see him again though, insha-Allah.
Hope he has a better translator.

And Shaykh `Abdullah bin Bayyah is very great al-Hamdulilah.
There was one set of talks translated by Sh. Hamza called "Foundations of our Methodology" - I'd recommend everyone to get it - was excellent.
Imam al-Zarqani said in his book Manahil al-Irfan: 'Our Scholars agreed that if a word carries 99 aspects of disbelief and one aspect of faith, it must be interpreted according to the best of meanings, which is faith'.

i am listening to volume 2 at the current time - and Shaykh Hamza points out that what we see [in this CD set] is 1% of his knowledge, and that although he teaches university students in saudi, his main concern are his private 'students' at his home - ALL of those 'students' being great ulama. subhanallah. May Allah preserve him.
